Re: PA,
79 percent of absentee ballots requested by dems have already been returned, for repubs it’s only 66 percent. There are a total of 410,000 dem absentees outstanding to 268,000 repub ones. Many of those are doubtless people who have changed their mind and are voting / have voted in person, are going to drop them off in person, or were never goin to vote anyway. I don’t think the USPS shenanigans are going to be what determines this election given there are still 3 more days until election day for more of those 410k ballots to be recieved, and there are at least theoretically another 3 days beyond that (but I really don’t think the small amount still outstanding as of the third versus the republican amount still outstanding is going to be that much of a margin).

Edit: We know at least one of those 410,000 is our very own @anon38180840. There are probably others like him.

That’s a nice upgrade from the razor blades in apples that they made us worry about as a kid.

Do NOT play with the snake like that. Who the fuck do you think you are? Jeffrey Toobin?

Listen to Nate Silver on the most recent Model Talk address this. He says the votes have to be in Florida 2000 territory of closeness for a decision on late arriving ballots to affect the outcome in PA. He did a very rough calculation and it ended up being iirc -0.06% for Dems if they invalidate those votes.

Yeah that sounds right to me.

Regarding the USPS fiasco in Miami: anyone whose mailed ballot has not been counted can still vote on Election Day. Hopefully people who are savvy enough to figure out how to vote by mail can also figure out how to browse to the county election site and check the status of their ballot.

What I really hope for is that the party and campaign are getting the word out, though. People need to wake up on Election Day and check the status of their ballot and, if it still hasn’t been counted, go vote.

I mean who’s going to stop the Proud Boys from burning it to the ground if they try? The Philly PD who colluded with white mobs in Fishtown in June? The Philly PD who gassed cornered peaceful protesters in June? Who ripped a couple from their van the other day and beat them?

Or is it the state police I’m supposed to trust not to be down for some authoritarian extra judicial rigging for the guy who wants to give them free reign to do whatever they want to the black people, liberal people, etc, etc?

Further, as much as I think Tom Wolf has done a pretty good job this year, is this the guy I’m supposed to trust to have enough of the right folks with guns in place before the Proud Boys show up to torch them?

I dunno man, I hope so but I’m afraid it’ll be too little too late if it goes down.

I dunno if we’re talking about a 1% risk or a 25% risk but I know that our democracy could ride on Pennsylvania and the entire margin of victory is and will be at the Philadelphia Convention Center. I know Donald Trump will be ranting about fraud and crooked radical left Democrats stuffing the ballot box on Wednesday if it matters, which will likely incite something.

There are a lot of things I’m worried about this election. The lolproudboys successfully destroying the Philadelphia absentee ballots is not one of them. This isn’t Alabama we’re talking about. Law Enforcement in Philly is not going to stand back and let them do that. I know, I know, I’m about to get a lot of @'s.

Sounds like you’re probably neck and neck in votes already cast, hopefully you have a slight lead, and it’s going to be super tight based on Tuesday’s turnout.

As you know it always rains on me when I knock doors. I’ll be thinking about CA-50 on Tuesday, doing my best to send monsoon level vibes.

False, I was able to cancel my mail-in request. But my buddy has his unopened mail-in in hand and will be returning it Tuesday to vote in person instead.

I wonder how requests like yours that were cancelled are counted though on that total number. And yeah, some of those 410,000 dems are people like your buddy, who, fearing USPS shenanigans, are voting on E-day.

Ok I’m getting legitimately scared of widespread right wing violence. This is insane.

5am? Bastards. How am I supposed to sleep?

This is going to happen all over the country Tuesday. I’d be shocked if a few people aren’t shot and killed trying to vote. I’m going to be keeping an eye on this while knocking doors and if it happens nearby, I’m going to think about going to escort scared voters to the line from the parking lot or something.

Secret Service probably should have made an example of a couple of these people.
