Gary Sheffield still killing it. Has to be the most underrated player of his era. Should be in the HoF.
Especially bizarre since he spent time on the Yankees.

Jesus christ… maced a kid right in the face
You can now put me in the abolish camp. Jfc.
I wouldn’t object to Sheffield in the Hall because he was such a good hitter. He was a truly abysmal defender, though.
Love Sheffield, but there are a few more underrated players. Off the top of my head - Rolen (who should have been a first ballot HOF), Abreu, and Edmonds were more underrated…
Alright, fair.
Sheffield, Edmonds, and Abreu all have almost the exact same career WAR. Rolen is a lot higher.
And arrested the guy who took the video.
It gets worse.
The videographer was later arrested and held for 2 days based on ‘reports that he had shined a laser at officers’ of which no evidence has been produced and the officer that reported that cannot be identified?
So you can imprison someone for 2 days after they post a video that shows you in a bad light based on heresay from a cop who won’t even come forward
Greatest batting stance / pre-swing bat movement of all time, too.
Change “won’t even come forward” to “doesn’t even exist”.
Yeah, cops can imprison anyone they want at any time for any reason for 2 days and the worst that happens is the city gets sued.
Julio Franco and Eric Davis are up there as well.
According to this book I’m reading called Don’t Think of an Elephant, that is because the police force as an authoritarian mechanism attracts people who are Strict Father types. They believe that people are inherently evil and must be punished to teach them to restrain their worst impulses and obey the law.
I say it again. Cruelty is the point. They believe discipline and punishment are essential. It’s not that they don’t know there are other tools, it’s that any other tool must not inhibit the use of discipline and punishment as the most effective training tools to abuse citizens into falling in line.
You are not going to get the police to stop using brutal force. Policemen who fit the Strict Father type believe punishment is the best and only tool. They in fact are furious that we are resisting the very stabilizing force they believe their brutality provides. That is why they are continuing to brutalize and murder people. The more unruly society becomes against them, the more brutality they must apply.
I wonder sometimes why there are not kinder people on the police force, but it takes me only a moment to see that is because kind people who don’t believe abusing others into obedience would not last long on the force, assuming they were attracted to that career in the first place.
I may have watched a few of those videos and am now just a little angry :(
This reminds me of leftist strategy toward ~everyone. Which has some truth to it, but also has drawbacks.
I actually laughed out loud.
They often “commit suicide with their service weapon.”
For the same reason I did?
I’m not sure but if not I’m having you sent to a reeducation camp.
What will happen if we don’t give the protesters what they are asking for?
They will remain peacefully protesting in the street.
I can live with that. Let’s try that new sushi place!
