yeah that photo is misleading also. where they were walking there was no sidewalk. with no sidewalk you are supposed to “when practical walk on the left side of the street”, so you can’t really be jaywalking if you aren’t disrupting traffic, which they werent. it of course also was the “gang unit” that profiled the shit out of the kids.

i told my buddy that im going to start calling tulsa police on my white neighbors walking their dogs on the wrong side of the road in my no sidewalk mostly white neighborhood… im sure we will get equal police enforcement…

the police department took to facebook to try and tell their side and ultimately just said its not our job to say whether they were actually jaywalking, that’s for the courts…

Probably, but the Twitter comments are overwhelmingly supportive.

I don’t know about overwhelmingly.

90%+

The unfortunate thing is how easily we will take just one crappy person as proof we suck.

Fortunately JJ seems cut from more resilient cloth.

Yeah, I watch videos from this guy AdventureVanMan about his travels and life on the road. Cool guy imo and I’m just interested in what he’s up to. He tends towards being depressive and has talked about how he can get 100 good comments and then 1 bad one which is all he thinks about.

These ponies need to remain at least six posts apart

In which Fox News interviews a police officer who is pushing to rebrand the police force as “safety officers,” ie without police officers free to brutalize, you shouldn’t feel safe.

Refers to protesters as: criminal agitators, unreasonable activists

My pony is already in custody

On my phone so I can only do a quick search, but have people seen that Rayshard Brooks police shooting in Atlanta?

Unarmed black man shot in the back after fleeing the cops last night. Apparently he was sleeping in his car.

Big protests growing in South Atlanta right now.

What in the fuck man

I feel a little sad. I spoke to a deplorable relative yesterday. They mostly watch survivalist and alt-right YouTube news sources, Jordan Peterson for philosophy and life advice. They’re up near the Canadian border for reasons but are coming home soon. They said they’re afraid that if they try to drive home across several states, someone will grab them at a red light and murder them. “It’s already happened before!” they said.

I wasn’t sure what to say except that I often feel overwhelmed in these times, too, and I just try to let myself accept my fear, even if I see I have no rational or realistic reason to feel that way. I wanted to say more, but it’s a mountain of racism and alt-right programming to get through. So instead I chose a little kindness and support.

Afterward, I thought some more about their position, and I guess if a person is as racist as this person, they probably DO have a lot more to be afraid of as long as the protests are going on. They are the sort who want to just be free to be as politely racist as they want, but they feel unsafe leaving their home now that the people their racism affects are no longer being as polite back to them.

And of course the first tainted reports said he was attacking the officers, yet the video has him getting killed running away.

Why are police constantly killing unarmed people who are trying to run away. Resisting arrest is not punishable by murder.

My perhaps heaviest weight in all this is how many “stories” of police assaults and murders I swallowed because the entirely controlled, and often made up, narrative was in the hands of law enforcement.

I am sorry to all the people murdered in the last fifty years that I didn’t give much of a second thought to.

Police are making it entirely impossible to not want them abolished. They have to be on their best behavior right now and it continues to be the absolute worst decisions every time.

I wish we still had badges, would love a Fuck the Police badge about now.

Imagine how weak and lacking in confidence you would have to be to not think you could control a handcuffed teenager accused of jaywalking, without laying on them.

They do treat every encounter like a video game and if some kid who allegedly jaywalks runs off, they lose. On the other side if they arrest, beat or murder them, they win.

It is just like micro told triceratops in his thread. These people are chicken shit cowards and if they are afraid to travel through the country they should just leave.

I saw a tweet today from protesters in Seattle. Their friends and family did not contact them once when the police were beating them, gassing them and shooting them with rubber bullets. But as soon as they were shown peacefully singing and dancing and watching movies, everyone was contacting them to make sure they were okay and hadn’t been hurt by the violent rioters.

People are afraid because they are cowards. They are cowards because they are afraid.

Their fear of driving through a few states and being worried about getting murdered is absolutely insane.

This happens with much to much frequency. One of the few black people who can muster up the courage to call the police for help show up and go right after the black guy.

It is absolutely the most fundamentally racist thing ever and should lead to instant termination of employment. If cops can’t assess a scene better than that, they provide a net negative value to the community.
