Uh, he’s dead. So, no, I wouldn’t be charging him with any crimes.

But to the point: this guy is unquestionably in a different position than Floyd. Floyd was murdered. This guy was killed. It’s sad and not fair, but I would be astonished if the officer is charged.

Repubes who have whined for decades about how hard it is to “get rid of bad teachers” refuse to compromise on measures aimed at getting rid of bad cops, it appears.

Let me get this straight. Because he was shot, he was just “killed”. But if they run him down and kneel on his neck for 9 min, then it’s ‘murder’. Do I have that right?

Surprised they didn’t list COVID19 as the cause of death.

Coroner doesn’t get that sweet sweet covid cash. Only hospitals get that.

Tell that to the Minneapolis coroner who did the initial George Floyd autopsy…

Because he was shot

(1) after resisting arrest
(2) after effecting an escape from arrest
(3) after robbing an officer of the officer’s weapon
(4) after pointing the officer’s weapon at the officer in the midst of effecting his escape

I’m not prepared to say he was murdered, no.

The officer that put his entire weight onto George Floyd’s neck, while he was completely restrained, no threat to the officer or community, and having committed no felonies, for nearly nine minutes, including several minutes after he had been confirmed to have no pulse, murdered him, unquestionably.

There is absolutely no comparison to the officer conduct here.

You didn’t answer the question. Assume the situation unfolds exactly the same, but instead of shooting him, they run him down and kneel on his neck for 9 min. Murder or killing?

Probably? You have to be a real life scuzball to say ‘probably’ here. You can quote me on that.

I haven’t really been paying attention but i am guessing that the derposphere will be using the argument that if he tases the officer then he could then get his thang and finish the job.

yup, that’s exactly what I am seeing.

There is a second cop there. If he tases the first cop and goes for his gun THEN the 2nd cop could justifiably shoot the suspect.

I also posted this in the What Are You Reading thread. Pick whichever interests you the most. Get a few people together and I’d participate in a book club.

Which would be the best to try and get my dad to read? I’ve gotten him a bunch of ebooks since the library is closed and I think it’d be great to try and get him to read one of these,

Then again in the end I know it and nothing would matter.
