If you listen to him talk he is clearly not red pilled. I’d guess policy for poliicy he aligns with this forum more than 90%. He is like Sam Harris in that he has been convinced political correctness is the number one issue we face because he can’t see past his own white privilege and he has a self identity build around being edgy and independent. Remove that single issue and he would readily fit in as a mean UPer.

I don’t follow Twitter. I have watched every blog he has done and listened to him on dozens of podcasts. He is not right wing for my experience and I would snap bet he didn’t vote for Trump if there was a way to confirm.

If you only know Daniel through his wsop blogs, dat poker podcast and whatever interview you might run into (and that’s a ton of content) there’s a fair chance someone could think he’s pretty reasonable politically.
My point is this is a better dataset than who he retreats.
If someone points me to a post he made with obvious red pill content he wrote other than political correctness and I will change my priors

When I say “red-pilled” I guess I should clarify to say that I don’t necessarily think he has adopted conservative positions on everything… It’s more a commentary on what issues he prioritizes and what he speaks out on. I don’t see much of anything on his feed about the harms of income inequality, or the need for universal healthcare, or whatever liberal positions he probably holds. Almost everything political is a rant about how DEI is bad, “wokeism” is killing America, liberals are too hard on rich straight white men, etc. He complained about how the Dems alienated Tulsi Gabbard. He went hard for Daniel Penny and spent months riding for Johnny Depp.
Can you hold some or even all of those positions and still be “liberal” in other ways? Sure. However, if you basically never talk about the other stuff but do find the time to rant about the Algerian boxer, I’m going to start questioning your priorities (and your information diet).

This is a fair take. That’s why I compare him to Harris. They have both convinced themselves that the biggest threat to a liberal democracy is “wokism” which leads them to spend all their time focussed on this one issue and no room to talk about their other liberal beliefs.
I’d still bet if both took a standard political spectrum test they would land largely left of center.
Yeah, but if someone in the far left bottom sector only ever posted Nazi talking points about trans people, does it really matter what the rest of their views are? If you cant make time and space for your ideas that are left wing and only make time and space for your views that are right wing, youre a right winger. Thats not purity testing.
