Poker Hands and Strategy

Ok says you don’t have to be a resident of Nevada but you have to be physically located in Nevada. Wonder how seriously they check VPNs?

If I make a final table I’ll just drive to Nevada.

I get 50% for letting you know

Sure just stake me 100%.

I like him much better when Jamie Kerstetter is commentating with him. They play off each other well.

in other news, I’m still rolling in my HU tourney. Managed to hold off the super donk in rd 3, but I had to play a very different strategy than I usually do. Guy loves to put money in the pot, so this means he’s both a calling station AND the guy who will bet if he “senses weakness” (meaning, if I check), so I basically just had to wait and trap/value bet.

Took me a couple levels to adjust and he built a 2-1 chip lead by the end of level 2. It was hard for me to dial it back. I was almost playing a 6-max style game after a while, which was weird to me, but it actually worked against this guy. Then after a nice hidden 2-pair put me ahead, he decided to try to bluff me off QQ on a relatively safe board. Turns out he was actually drawing dead, lmao.

I too started playing on The Brothers Poker and holy shit where do they grow these people.

If the BBJ is paid out on the table isn’t the rule that everybody is supposed to pfai blind the next hand?

That’s a lot of hands. What is that from? Seems… like filtered results.

I’ve played live 2/5-10/25 PLO for a living and as supplemental income for ~ 10 years. I realize I see far fewer hands live than a multi tabling online pro. My experience with PB must have been quite the outlier. AAA losing to quad K 3 times in a few hundred hands sticks out more to me than anything I’ve ever seen in poker (seen perfect perfect a couple times. Oh I turned a straight flush AND quads once in PLO. That seems hard to do).

If the software is rigged, why would they rig it to create such outliers? (I have no idea which app youre talking about, but i have more experience than most in how poker sites work)

I don’t even necessarily think it’s “rigged”. But it does seem to favor action. The club I played the most in was with regs I know from around here. Game wasn’t particularly fast and I wasn’t multi tabling. Saw lots of weird shit. But w/e. People have a ton of faith in an unregulated app by a company no one has ever heard of that is operating in ambiguous legality (at best). I played a few weeks and quit. I’m sure I’m lighting money on fire.

I have literally no idea what company or app it is and i would never play on one. I’m just saying favoring more action can be done easily by less noticable way and if not targeted by/against specific user won’t necessarily have a big negative effect on your results.

PokerBros

Yea I definitely don’t think it’s targeted or anything. I just don’t trust the algorithm and the entire setup is shady. The rake is also ludicrous and the local club doesn’t have rakeback.

My bad, that’s 4/5 of my hands on The Winning Poker Network For Winners. (other 1/5 on a HD in storage that’s also below AIEV)

No filter. Yes, it’s 533 ‘buyins’ below AIEV in 667k hands. Yes, it doesn’t show up on variance calculators. Yes, if you took a bet that a sample like this would occur amongst all players in online poker history who’ve played 667k hands you’d practically be drawing dead; if all the billions of hands were broken into 667k hand chunks you’d have a runner runner’s chance.

(tbf it’s only a wee bit out of range)

I was actually afraid of being misunderstood but couldn’t figure out a way to avoid that whilst still being cryptic, so, if the above isn’t clear let me be clear: I’m 100% on your side in this.

Also, with limited info you gave the limited 100% correct answer. Anybody’s first reaction should be, “Wait, is that fake? (fabricated/filtered/imported incorrectly/etc)?”

I put it in the 22 Rigged Thread and both sides went full Westworld.

That graph is a perfect illustration of why people play on the apps. They are super sketchy and may or may not be rigged…but when you’re still winning at 10BB/100 who cares. :man_shrugging:

WSOP bracelet events are split between WSOP.com and GGPoker.com. For WSOP, you have to be a resident of one of those states tabbaker pointed out, but for GGPoker events, pretty much everyone in the world outside the USA is eligible. So if you can get to Mexico you could participate.

I’ve never played a WSOP, but looking forward to taking the plunge in a couple PLO events. The buyins are a lot smaller than normal, there are buyins for $400, 800, 1k, 1.5k, etc.

Back when I was still playing most 6m PLO grinders had basically that same kind of way below EV deviation. Most likely scenario that I was able to work out was botting where the bots were sharing cards with each other and with card removal their -ev plays were +ev and what should be +ev plays were really -ev b/c of card removal, but since you don’t have that info it just looks like you’re forever running below expectation, so unlucky.
