Taken from San Diego Reddit complaining about a dog in Costco. Might be linked to discussion cited in op.
Yeah this has been posted to both the Costco and San Diego subreddits and has thousands of comments on each. It’s what inspired the OP.
I like seeing pets in public. It’s always a fun surprise to be walking down the aisle at Home Depot and suddenly I see a dog in someone’s cart.
I was once on an airplane and the people next to me had a nine month old doodle. They were all apologetic and I was like “I would pay hundreds of dollars extra to have this on every flight.”
Dogs are OK for dining outside, but not inside.
Guess the spit is easier to manage outdoors.
And hair, and just there being a lower expectation of cleanliness outside compared to in.
For a normal restaurant yea. The line can get a little blurry between inside and outside here because so many are open air, and I’m OK with dogs in that environment
Most public places in Prague are very pet friendly. It’s quite common for someone to bring their dog into a restaurant and have them lay down on the floor next to their table (though places with outdoor seating might not allow pets into inside seating). Of course, they may be asked to leave if the animal causes a commotion but pets that well-trained don’t do that.
That said, most dog owners here are insufferable and are either abusive to their pets or let their pets basically roam free without consequence. The amount of pet owners who refuse to use a leash for their dogs and/or don’t pick up after their dog drives me nuts.
Prefer that dogs are not allowed in indoor public places especially those selling food unless it is clearly indicated dogs are allowed. Would never complain though as I personally don’t care but it is an issue when I am with one of my friends who is allergic.
They had the dog out in the open the whole flight? We take our Chihuahua on flights frequently and about half the time they’re pretty strict about keeping them in their carrying case and under the seat the whole flight. Luckily our dog is lazy and loves being in his case and can often sleep 5+ hours like that.
I’m not sure if you are aware, but that german shepherd in your photo is actually a cat.
I’m not an expert in breeds but I don’t think that’s a German shepherd.
Your german shepherd is actually a slow pony.
lol, dammit
Don’t really care. Agree with the whole idiots that you’d hate are pretty likely to be idiots with their pets and should be banned from society (the idiots, not the pets).
Do think some people get way silly with pets these days in terms of the lengths they will go to disrupt their own lives to accommodate them but w/e you do you.
I have often regretted not trying to see if our cat would like walks. I know most wouldn’t, but some seem to like it. He’s 19 now so it probably wouldn’t take at this point
We had one who quite liked it. It wasn’t perfect and he had to be nudged at times and picked up at others, but overall was really good with it. He started it pretty young though - we got him at 4 months and he was in a leash shortly thereafter.
Considering trying it with our newest who is 11 but keeps screaming while staring at the front door.
My experience with this was a woman who brings her dog to play casino poker. I’m a little salty about it, despite the dog not being an obvious problem. It just sits under her chair and looks around for hours.
