It is far less than 5% to state that this was designed in a lab. Thereâs a reason why that position is quickly abandoned.

The cycle of people pretending that anybody who gives any credence at all to a possible lab escape scenario also must think it was designed in a lab, and most likely for nefarious purposes? Yeah I guess so.
There was a paper published in Cell just recently authored by 21 scientists in the field talking about this. They argue pretty effectively that SARS-CoV-2 was not the result of a gain-of-function experiment.
The remaining story that makes sense is that perhaps the virus was brought back to Wuhan by one of these field trips to the bat caves that the guys at the WIV were doing. The problem with this is that, similar to the conjunction fallacy, itâs a specific story involving relevant people and deliberate actions that makes sense to the human brain, but just numerically patient zero was probably one of the other 58 million people in Hubei province.
Thatâs the consensus opinion among experts so far.
