Gonna be extra-washing my apples now

Fucking science man. Double-edged.

Thatā€™s an easy problem to solve.

I barely eat any tomatoes out of season. Or corn for that matter.

it is because since apples are kept in ideal storage condition through the supply chain. some apples are covered with parafin (yuck), sometimes they are refrigerated and gassed. taking it home and leaving it on the counter is the worst thing you can do for storage.

You would think. And there was a bit of that.

Do you like apples? How 'bout them year old apples?

Wait 'till yā€™all learn about the ethylene gas chambers your bananas and other fruits are stuck into to force them to ripen since theyā€™re picked hard as a rock for easy transport.

I only ever saw those used for bananas back in the day when I worked for a large grocery warehouse. (30+ years ago.) We used to find lizards and tarantulas in there when we pulled out the pallets.

Still widely used for all kinds of fruit afaik.

The baby jazz apples from trader joes last forever. Iā€™ve eaten them months after buying and theyā€™re fine.

I only eat tinned tomatoes for cooking in the off season. My tomatoes are starting to flower so itā€™s very exciting! Luckily for me tomatoes are low calorie because I tend to be rather gluttonous eating them straight from the garden.

Eating corn straight from the garden is one of my more memorable experiences. Pure bliss.

My dog has seizures and it absolutely sucks to watch. Heā€™s almost 10 and itā€™s happened for 8 years or so, but it never gets easier. Thankfully it only happens every couple of months. I thought about giving him some CBD oil to maybe help. Anyone have experience with this?

QFT. This scenario played out pretty much word for word where I worked several years ago.

Yeah my political takes may not be the best sometimes but my business operations takes are on a very different level lol

Think I mentioned this the other day when I found out but my company lost one of our markets I work in so we are going to have layoffs, Iā€™m safe from what my boss has told me which is good but theyā€™re going to let go two of the 3 employees that work for me, the two have both been with the company about as long as I have, almost 10 years. He originally wasnā€™t sure when they were going to do it but he hit me up today and it seems theyā€™re going to do it a week from tomorrow, 14 days before Xmas man wtf. What a shit year

I once worked for a company that decided they needed to do a workforce reduction right around this time and decided to wait until after the holidays to execute it in order to not ruin the holiday period for people. Everybody got pissed off that they didnā€™t tell them before the holidays because then they could have spent less money, etc. So I think it sucks no matter what, but I wouldnā€™t assume waiting to tell people until after the holidays is better.

Yea I didnā€™t think about that, just sucks around this time of year period I guess

The worst part is that I kind of saw it coming. I wanted to sit her down and say, ā€œI know that what you do is invaluable. But someone on the outside looking in probably thinks that you arenā€™t doing much, and that could end up leading to some undesirable consequence.ā€

I wish I had done that. Long story short: She got downsized (when I was away on vacationā€¦Iā€™m not certain I could have stopped it but Iā€™d have had a shot), now there is all sorts of chaos and Iā€™ve go to deal with a bunch of shit that never even got on my radar.

I also had a dog that had seizures and confirm itā€™s super crappy. Iā€™m almost positive it was undiagnosed Lyme disease, which wasnā€™t very well known at the time. Donā€™t have much advice to offer, just sympathy and understanding for what itā€™s like. All we were able to do is make sure she didnā€™t hurt herself and try to provide a reassuring environment when she came out of it since she was always bewildered as hell.
