That made me lol. Didn’t realise that there was a different US version of Dennis the Menace until now though.
I had to double check that my memory hadn’t failed me, but this is the UK version

Fun fact: The two comics with Dennis the Menace as the title are completely unrelated, made without knowledge of the other one, and both debuted on the exact same day (12 March 1951).
There’s a website where Garfield is removed from all the Garfield comics. They are funnier that way. Not that regular Garfield is funny.
Now this is the type of quality information that keeps me coming back to this site
Ethical question…
My mom is end of life. At best maybe a year to live. Turns out a couple years ago she fell off the wagon gambling and lost a bunch in one day. This forced her to get one of those insane payday loans. The terms are criminal. She pays $250/month of which $35 is principal! Total owed is $4,500.
Given these places are predatory and criminal, and Canadian law says debt doesn’t pass on after death to heirs, I have half a mind to tell them to F-off and stop future payment. There will be no estate to claim against.
I could pay the debt but don’t want to give these people money.
What is the question here? Why would you even consider paying someone else’s debt?
I guess it’s more do I have her keep paying monthly? If she was to live a year she would have paid another $3,000 on a $4,500 debt but only $400 in principal.
This sounds like a legal question.
Ethically, fuck no.
Ethically she should take more loans spend it having fun and hopefully die before they can go to collections however they do that. Business-wise, I wouldn’t bank on her kicking the bucket before 4500 gets paid, and then you’re in the bad zone where your mom’s still alive and you’re fucked.
I’d pay off the loan cause otherwise I’d be rooting for my mom to die like I’m gambling on her dying soon, and if she doesn’t die I’m just gonna be mad. But if you hate your mom maybe it would be a fun sweat idk
I think legally the answer is yes. But we don’t care about her credit rating or estate so not sure we care about the legal action they could bring.
It won’t effect me either way other than I guess any small amount of money she has when she passes would be used for clearing up her affairs.
Under no circumstances should you pay those criminals another dime.
Ethically.

My legal answer in the US would be to tell them to f off. There may be collection calls but you can hang up on them. Could potentially hurt your mom’s credit rating, but doesn’t sound like a relevant issue. Actually, the calls may go to your mom, so that may be a concern depending on the circumstance.
Note that i know nothing about Canadian collection laws, but it would be uneconomical for them to file suit, obtain a default judgment, and try to enforce the judgment in the US. Very uneconomical.
I will be deeply embarrassed if I only owe $4,500 when I croak. At a bare minimum I want to be upside down on my mortgage and have at least mid 5 figures in outstanding credit card debt.
That’s too bad. I wanted to say that Binface pailed in comparison.
I quickly looked at this and found a few typos/errors. I didn’t look at the replies and don’t know enough to check them all so there could be more.

The live performers with giant suits is one of my favorite things about Universal. It’s always really well done.
