Holy shit! I knew your healthcare system was a steaming pile of flaming feces but wow. I tried to help a friend choose a plan and it was insanely, over the top, indescribably complex to figure out what to choose. I have run my own investments, done my own taxes, and ran a company with 8 digit revenue and this maybe more complex.
In the end she will be paying $450 a month, with a $8,000 deductible, for what I consider pure trash coverage.
Just wow.

Its a pretty classic case of why the cult of Consumer Choice needs to die.
The last two weeks surfing in Del Mar someone has said theyāve seen a shark. Both times I was the furthest out and nobody was between me and the person who saw the shark. Both times I went in immediately and 0 people followed! Crazy stuff. Made me feel like Iām in this scene from jaws 2 haha

This is at a place in Portugal called NazarĆ©. Thereās a 60 Minutes Australia segment on it thatās pretty good. Lots of shots of dudes surfing the waves (and plenty of wipeouts).

And thatās STILL better than what existed before. The us healthcare system is almost indescribably bad.
Meanwhile I have a $500 deductible PPO where basically every doctor is in network, costs me $0 a paycheck. You can have great healthcare here, but only if youāre privileged.
I thought clocks went the other way in Straya, also no metric minutes, weird.

Is there some phenomenon where carbonation tastes better in glass rather than plastic bottles? I love Topo Chico and thought Iād buy the 2 liter bottles to save some money but they donāt taste as good as the glass bottles
There is science to back this up. Supposedly plastic is slightly CO2 permeable so the taste difference is legit. Basically glass or cans should always taste slightly better.

You might enjoy checking out this instagram. Its the daughter of a surfboard shaper who does custom artwork for some of the best surfers in the world. A couple of months ago I saw somewhere that a board she did as a young child, just like complete doodles and rainbow colors scribbled on the board, was stolen out of the back of her dads truck and people were freaking out like that board would have eventually ended up in a surf museum.
