This will not stand!

Same for me, and Devil is also animated. Both Flynn and Devil were animated on my screen while they were discussing their lack of animation.

Clearly, this is Devilā€™s fault.

Thread for ppl leaving the US seems to have lost interest so guess Iā€™ll post this here. Put deposit down on place in downtown Rosarito Beach, Mexico. 2br 1.5 bth with rooftop deck. Less than 100 meters from water.

900 a month (unfurnished though)

Expecting a wave of socal bros moving down here once WFH is the norm.

So I had a spam call today. Was from the local fraternal order of police. Their initial spiel began with ā€œWith calls to defund the policeā€¦ā€. I guess I shouldnā€™t be surprised they are beginning with that. But yeah fuck them.

American manufacturers had a brief flirtation with putting vinyl record players in cars. I found this light article about it:

https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/04/record-players-were-the-infotainment-systems-of-the-1950s-and-60s/index.htm

A new technology came on the market in the mid-1950s and early 1960s that freed drivers from commercials and unreliable broadcast signals, allowing them to be the masters of their motoring soundtrack with their favorite pressed vinyl spinning on a record player mounted under the dash. Consumer Reports covered three auto record player units of the day.

Some interesting trivia in there if youā€™re into that kind of thing.

I didnā€™t get these kinds of demonstrations in my science classes as a kid.

My high school chemistry teacher would splash little drops of contact explosive all over the classroom floor. Are they still allowed to do that? Seems like something that would be frowned upon these days.

Donā€™t know what that is. A primary explosive? Those are very sensitive. In a small quantity and properly handled for a demonstration ok but as a gag, yeah, I think that would be unwise.

One of my aerospace co-workers did demos for employees so theyā€™d have some realistic idea of the hazards without being fearful for no reason. Heā€™d take bits of solid rocket motor propellant and put it on a metal plate, then whack it with a hammer. Produced a pretty good report, enough that you respect the amount of stored energy, but also realize it takes a pretty good punch to get it to go.

The internet suggests it was probably nitrogen triiodide.

Well, one thing is for sure. Sheā€™s not getting a Nobel prize out of it this time. Sheā€™s drawing as dead as Trump.

Our teacher would drop a small cube of sodium in an aquarium to show the reaction and how it speeds around the aquarium until one time the sodium got stuck against the glass and it exploded the glass all over the students. No serious injuries but he almost lost his job and was told never to do stuff like this again. We also made fireworks but that was banned as well after that incident.
