‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens - Gun Violence in America

As usual, initial reports are confused. CNN saying only one shooter confirmed and he’s dead.

No one knows what goes on in these things until like 24+ hours later. The Las Vegas shooting was super dumb in the moments after.

The suspect/s are shooting in Mall areas… Be safe everyone.

Latest Update… I hope.

Thirteen people have been shot and one suspect has been killed following tense reports of an active shooter in Odessa, Texas, according to authorities.

“The active shooter was shot and killed at the Cinergy in Odessa,” the Midland Police Department said.

“There is no active shooter at this time,” Midland police said. “All agencies are investigating reports of possible suspects.”

There are almost always reports of a second shooter and there is almost never a second shooter. Always take breaking news from a mass shooting with a big grain of salt.

My favorite podcast On The Media has a consumers handbook for breaking news on mass shootings I encourage everyone to give a listen.

The report I read said when I posted they think there may be multiple shooters. I should have clarified.

Sadly mundane.

In addition to the guy driving around shooting people at the mall, another guy shot 10 people at a high school football game

Beto, shockingly, doing great on this issue lately

Good thing we can’t even have a vote on a gun control bill. This country is a joke.

America is not a joke. It’s a literal nightmare.

Really, breaking news like this should have a standard statement about accuracy appended to it, like the Surgeon General’s warning for cigarettes. It’s malpractice not to, at this point.

Only one shooter, as predicted.

Totsy pears.

Vegas was interviewing random drunk dudes who were nowhere near the shooting talking about it like they were there.

That’s good on the consumer side. I could certainly do better. The first report I saw was from AP. They could do better too.

AP is essentially a Frankenstein monster in comparison to what it used to be. It’s been gutted into oblivion over the last 20 years.

If there is a mass shooting I have to switch to the Canadian news in the aftermath because their journalistic integrity is much higher so I know what actually is confirmed

Does Fox still make it a point to note that RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM has not been ruled out when there is literally zero information about the shootings?
