This, and not sure about the characterization that Kirk’s killer nearly got away. He was arrested in 33 hours.
These guys must all subconsciously want to get caught since they never take basic actions to disguise themselves and always manage to look directly at a camera.
Only because his dad turned him in his dumbass left the gun behind. Really feel like we’ve been running very hot in terms of catching these random shooters.
It’s all a hypothetical, but I don’t necessarily believe that if his dad didn’t turn him in at that time that he wouldn’t have been caught at all. That seems an illogical conclusion to me.
They would have caught him because he left behind a very easy-to-trace gun, but my recollection what that they had basically no leads on him? I could be wrong on this.
There were no doubt countless others who recognized him and probably phoned in tips saying “I think that’s this kid I go to school with”. It may have taken days or weeks to follow up and rule out bad leads but I have no doubt given the evidence and manpower that he’s identified as the killer in a matter of days or weeks.
For a good example of how that might go down look at the dc sniper thing from back in the early 2000s. When a case captures the public attention like that, it’s hard to escape. Luigi probably gets caught eventually too.
My general view is that these days with cameras everywhere and other digital forensics, it is very, very hard to actually get away with something like that. I mean, the guy was videoed running off a roof and out of campus. I believe he would’ve been caught eventually gun or no gun. The truth probably lies somewhere in between that view and yours that he nearly got away.
Not unless he’s Mossad and they didn’t setup a patsy to take the fall
(This seems to be a standard conspiracy theory of both the anti-Israel and the extreme pro-Israel for any and all things). I mean only an extreme sharpshooter could nick Trumps ear like that.
Has any mass murderer gotten away with it? I tried googling that and it gave me a bunch of examples of serial killers, but that’s not the same thing. I’m talking about people who’ve killed four or more in one incident…not people who kill one at a time for years.
That, and they’re probably better trained.
Pete Hegseth.
Yes. If you mean “unsolved” as in the shooter was never definitively identified and no one has been convicted, there are mass shootings that remain unsolved—some for decades.
Examples:
• Las Cruces Bowling Alley massacre (Las Cruces, New Mexico, Feb 10, 1990) — widely described as a mass shooting/mass murder with unknown perpetrators, and the City of Las Cruces marked it as still unsolved on the 35th anniversary (high confidence).
• Lane Bryant shooting (Tinley Park, Illinois, Feb 2, 2008) — a five-fatality mass shooting where Tinley Park Police continue to publish composite material and request tips; the offender remains unidentified (high confidence).
And sometimes a case can be “unsolved” for a while right after it happens: for instance, reporting as of Dec 17–18, 2025 said the Brown University shooting suspect had not yet been identified/arrested at that point (medium confidence because it’s an evolving situation).
Cameras don’t work well at night time.
If you can wear a mask that covers your entire face, disguise your body, travel by bicycle/public transport, get rid of the murder weapon, don’t tell anyone, don’t use a cell phone… it will be hard to find you if you aren’t caught at the scene.
This is precisely what I do.
It’s Murder 101, but most murderers aren’t very bright.
Thanks AI
It feels kinda gross to say this, b/c it’s basically what Charlie Kirk was saying right before he got shot, but if we’re defining mass shooting as any shooting with multiple fatalities and not “disaffected white guy in a trench coat shoots up a school”, there are a decent number of gang-related shoot outs/drivebys where some or all of the perpetrators are never caught. A lot of the school/Pulse Nightclub/Las Vegas concert type incidents are different b/c the perpetrators aren’t necessarily trying to get away. They’re either planning on killing themselves or at least prepared for the possibility of getting taken out by the cops b/c they want to stick around and maximize casualties.
Story has no details beyond the headline.
It’s CBS sooo
Well past 2024 here
Color night vision captures full-color video in low light, unlike traditional black & white IR night vision, by using super-sensitive sensors, large apertures, and sometimes built-in warm lights or AI to amplify light and render details like clothing or vehicle colors, crucial for identification in security and surveillance. It significantly improves identification by adding color information, making threats easier to spot and report compared to monochrome IR footage, with technologies like Hikvision ColorVu and Reolink ColorX leading the charge in security cameras.
