‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens - Gun Violence in America

I’ve also seen the lie that he is a Lebanese Christian.

So the context here is that the shooters and the hero are both Muslim?

I haven’t bothered to read anything that says what his religion is, so I don’t know for sure what it is.

Yes. Also the hero is Syrian, a country you may remember from this Don Trump Jr. post from 2016:

Counterpoint: What if there was a dude shooting people and a Skittle went up and disarmed him? That would be pretty awesome.

By the way, I think this is actually another success story for Australia’s gun laws. These guys killed, what, 15 or 16 people, I don’t know if this toll may rise, but something like that. In the event that triggered Australia’s gun crackdown, Martin Bryant as a lone gunman back in 1996 (the Port Arthur massacre will be 30 years ago next year) killed 35 people and wounded 23 others. Although the shooters in this instance had legally owned guns and this was plenty bad enough, you would have to imagine it would be a lot worse if they had more powerful semi-automatics. Limiting gun power - especially in terms of fire rate and magazine size - works to limit the damage in events like this.

For those interested in some details. Recent Syrian muslim immigrant feeling gratefull Australia gave him citizenship.

the unhinged deplorables have started hallucinating explanations for why the Brown shooter is actually persecution of right wingers, something something joe biden george soros

Sorry. My mistake. (And to @DUCY as well)

I read an early timeline that had more than an hour from first shots to declaring the scene secure

I think it was 9 minutes total.

Do we know detail about how Ahmed was shot? CNN says: “Ahmed risked his life by tackling an alleged shooter and seizing the gun during Sunday’s attack. He was later shot by one of the two gunmen”

So he tackled the guy and wrestled away his gun, and then later that same guy or the other one shot him 5 times?

I don’t know aany details but someone posted on here it was the other shooter

Looks like the second shooter was on a bridge a little ways a way and shot him.

I think it could have been either. They had a bunch of backup guns on the bridge and the one who was disarmed retreated to the bridge and was filmed firing another rifle shortly before getting shot himself.

Standard cop performance in Australia. Sirens galore but literally hiding while an unarmed civilian stops the shooter.

Still better than in Uvalde, where all the cops did is hold back anyone who was trying to rescue the children.

Early reports made it seem like this was true, but I don’t think it is. There’s a timeline here. The gunmen started shooting at roughly 6:41pm. Police engaged them in a gunfight at most 6 minutes later (maybe sooner) and they were both neutralized around 2 minutes after that. This seems like a reasonable response time for police to be notified of the incident and make their way to the scene. Also, two police officers are in hospital, one in critical condition, the other having received surgery on his shoulder and eye and possibly losing sight in that eye. So clearly there were officers putting themselves in harm’s way.

Other victim was Muslim, right? Curious* how they seem to leave that out pretty much every time they describe the victims.

*Word choice is intentional

Little surprised that they haven’t caught Brown shooter yet. I know Kash is LOL, but I figured there were enough competent people left to have got him by now.

There are no competent people left with any decision making authority period. Those are the people they aggressively rooted out. Competence is the cardinal sin among maga.

Checked Chiefsplanet for takes on this:

The shooter was targeting her, and he was collateral damage.

if he had killed a white CEO or a Republican grifter he would have been caught a long time ago. I didnt even realize he was still missing, its getting basically no coverage
