also Connecticut and Maryland passed laws. Obama did a number of executive actions. yes, federal bills were defeated so far, but just pointing out it wasn’t exactly zero action. sandy hook did precipitate more change than some other incidents.

Guns are definitely the main problem but the other problem is that USA #1 is a soulless, cultureless, communityless abyss. Guns obviously make it super easy to do these kinds of things. I’m not trying to dimish that. But very very few people in this country are happy or even content. Once you get into your adult years and realize you aren’t going to live the American Dream all that is left is Trumpism, opiates and in the worst cases the ability to make the news by going out in a blaze of glory through a mass shooting.

Yeah, a major factor is the widespread despair of numerous citizens in a dying empire who are being told all the time that they live in The Greatest Country In The World but are leading increasingly desperate lives. The national mythology is absolutely impossible to square with their daily reality.

It’s not even trending. In any other nation this would be talked about for months.
You would be surprised. Modern military tactics involve an awful lot of suppressing fire. The 12 guns is the weird part.
Did the Vegas shooter have a bunch of guns setup on tripods so could just move from gun to gun and avoid dealing with reloads, jams or other malfunctions?
IIRC the Vegas shooter had a dozen+ riflesbut also cameras and a CCTV set up outside his hotel door so he could see when the cops would storm in. Cops probably got super lucky that he didn’t waste like a dozen of them.

Gun sales are like perpetually at “all time highs,” just so incredibly depressing.
How else are you going to defend yourself from all the other people with guns? It’s just common sense.
