I miss playing .5/$1 badugi and 2$ STT 5cd on PS. I’m bad at everything else. I assume I won because I was playing against people even drunker than I was.

I transitioned a while ago from this same point. Biggest adjustment I found was changing play based on pot sizes. Get away from marginal hands early if there’s any kind of aggression, size bets to build big pots for made/potential monsters. As long as you avoid major mistakes in this department and otherwise play a reasonable strategy you’re good for $2/$5 everywhere, $5/$10 in soft rooms (live).

LHE is so much better. It’s weird that donks who want to play every street of every hand and lose the max always hate it the most.

Live NLHE is only a game if you consider watching annoying yambags pretend like they have tough decisions for 48 minutes out of every hour a game. Also lol full ring.

Limit is great if you never want to have to make a decision that couldn’t be taught to a 12 year old in about an hour.

Man I dunno limit players seem like the unhappiest people on earth

What, you don’t want to play a game where the average age is 60 and someone will get angry if you 3b 9s?

Another big thing now is you basically can’t steal the blind. You are like 90% to get three bet.

real hand i played in the first (and last) live session i had this year.

i open 89dd to $10, btn and bb calls.
flop A86dxx. check to me I bet 15 bb calls.
turn 5d. bb checks i bet 40 he calls.
river 4x. bb bets 35. i have a blocker, plus who donks 1/5 pot with a straight there. plus i didn’t play live poker for 18 months.
i jam 250.

he tanks for 3 minutes

then shows me 7To

i’m thinking okay whatever i hate this place anyway

he tanks for 3 more minutes until he makes the world’s most obvious call.

live nlh is fun

As btn? Not much. If you’re opening wide in like the HJ, maybe?
3b light isn’t as much a thing as in like, 2011. Those days were fun, basically everyone trying to emulate Dwan and going broke.

The yuv hand is a lol live example of when not to bluff though. Don’t try to often bluff people who exhibit strength. Don’t try to bluff people who have 2 pair+, even on a super coordinated board. Fish dont like folding, but you can get them to fold a pair pretty easily.

Now, I get seeing a lol river sizing and thinking that’s super weak, fishy and thinking they might be weak. Sucks.

oh yeah the bluff sucked. it’s the 6 minutes it took him to call that got me.

I dont think I’ve ever been mega slow rolled live somehow. A few small nitrolls but nothing I can even remember otoh.

he was nitrolling. like he showed me the hand and kept mumbling to himself how he always so unlucky and i must have 79 and counted how much he had in his stack like 17 times even though he covered me.

Move up to where they respect your raises!

I’ve done that as a fake post oak bluff to induce a bluff raise from a LAG who would have folded to a normal sized bet, but I would have done it with the intention of snap-calling a raise and wouldn’t tank.

This is basically a bad beat story where you got runner runnered.

Probably because it’s 9max, not real poker. In real LHE (i.e., shorthanded) you don’t have time to be unhappy because you’re too busy making decisions. I’ll go ahead and include mixed games as well. Honestly I think OFC pineapple is an even better game since you are always playing and never watching annoying people waste your time. I’d at least have a reason to hit up the casino if they spread it.
