National Basketball Association - 2025/2026 Season

She is not what would be considered a big sports fan (although has learned and absorbed an impressive amount of knowledge since knowing me), but generally it seems if you are born and raised in San Antonio, you love the Spurs regardless of whether you follow sports much, and you know the legacy of Robinson, Duncan, Ginobli, Parker, and Pop even if you don’t know much about basketball.

Would she be watching every playoff game if it weren’t for me? Certainly not, but now we do, and she’s stressed out by them like any invested sports fan would be haha. It’s still a lot of money, though, and I’m more the “let’s drop everything and do this” type.

Haha, it wouldn’t be terribly uncomfortable. I’ve sat with her to watch the Spurs win 4 rings since we’ve known each other. I’m allowed one dammit!

You should make a bet on the outcome. One that you can’t lose if ya know what I mean.

Sigh, she was definitely down for doing the game and got comfortable with the cost (with some cajoling, haha), but I have some commitments today/tomorrow, and she later in the week, such that we couldn’t do G2 and would have very little time on the ground outside of attending G1, leaving no time for her to see some family and that was really bumming her out. Perhaps I could’ve pushed through that, but I’ve grown enough (I think) not to force something that she wasn’t fully enthused about. We’ve both been under the weather lately too, and all that flying in 36 hours probably would’ve wiped us out again.

Hold out for game 7. In fact you should probably go ahead and get tickets just in case.

Seriously, bummer.

When I lived in Texas the Spurs played in a football stadium with 40,000 seats. I remember going to Duncan’s first playoff series in 98 and we got upper deck seats for 5 bucks

Yeah, if it was still the Alamodome there might be 10,000+ Knicks fans there for the games.

Haha. Game 7 prices are bonkers. I do have my eye on G5, which are nearly 2x G1/G2 right now. But I could see those coming down if the series is not going the Spurs’ way. The 35% discount available yesterday was a key element in my pitch, but we’ll see how the next week or so unfolds.

I would have demanded adherence by my parents as a small child.

Mamdami is the real deal politician. Not sure I can root for the Knicks but he makes it possible.

259 posts were split to a new topic: 82-0 and other games

Excised the 82-0 shit to its own thread (82-0 and other games) by request. I probably got a lot of other shit too but I ain’t going through individual posts to figure that out.

Dammit I was working on this too and got an error when I went to move the posts.

Yeah, you sorta grabbed everything Game 1 related too but the tradeoff is probably worth it IMO if it’s too much of a pain to do it by individual post.

Shit? Shit???

The adrenaline dump when you think you might get that first 82-0 is real. Started with Giannis and then got MJ.
