“This team playing against Portugal in soccer is so dirty, look how many portuguese players are getting injured and rolling around on the ground (only to be fine 1 min later!”
Above clip is a clear offensive foul. Giannis just runs into the dude.
Yeah, he’s putting up no resistance so that he falls down, but if you can’t get the call any other way, what is he supposed to do?
Regardless, they have to figure out how to do something about the “guy slides under the offensive player” offensive foul. It’s definitely difficult, considering how fast the game is. I know I wouldn’t want to be a ref. It was hard enough when I reffed middle school games.
Like I didn’t even grow up watching basketball like I assume most here but would love watching clips from like late 90s to early 00s of the Shaq types backing guys down and banging. That play used to happen 50 times a game!
I’ve always been a soccer guy but if you think thats a foul then soccer is a more physical sport, and lol.
Helllll yeah
Hot take : Pritchard becomes part of Celtics folklore today.
Bucks need something from Allen, Tatum doing a job on Wes
Giannis pretty much has to take every shot and guard everybody. Almost triple-doubles in the first quarter and has barely been found in the second.
He’s going to have to go 50/20/15 and that might not be enough.
Where you’re wrong is he isn’t just initiating contact. He’s lowering his shoulder and hitting the defender hard as hell in the chest. If that isn’t an offensive foul there is nothing the defense can do because Giannis is stronger than almost everyone in the league.
So Giannis is getting easy lay ups because he’s stronger than people and allowed to just smash them out of his way? Even if the defender doesn’t fall he’s obviously going to get knocked back a couple steps allowing an easy lay up.
Shaq never did shit like that. He backed guys down close to the basket then scored with a beautiful spin move or hook shot or good foot work. He wasn’t just hitting guys out of his way so he has space for an easy lay up.
I will stop on this topic though and we will just agree to disagree.
This game is great.
By the way, low-key worst move of the season: trading DDV for Ibaka. Got rid of a guy who would be useful defending the perimeter and with some ball handling/passing/athleticism on offense for a guy who isn’t in the playoff rotation.
Giannis has way more skill/finesse than Shaq did lol.
Ibaka looked washed in TO two years ago.
That was another huge flop lol, just can’t ever make fun of soccer players for a while
What a bs offensive foul. Williams shoves GA in the back to move him out more, and then flops when GA makes any contact with him.
Giannis should have just crumpled when Williams touched him, but unlike the Celtics he’s not a flopper.
that was definitely a flop, probably a make up call lol
Celtics defense making it hard to find shots. Even when bucks have excellent ball movement they aren’t often getting open shots.
Again, given the fact that reffing Giannis is very difficult, the Celtics have been shoving and elbowing him every play all series. I mean, I don’t blame them, but the main reason they did so well defending his layups early in the series was a) they walled him off well, and b) elbows and shoves. He deals with it, though. He knows it’s going to happen. He’s gotten much better as the series has gone on - especially in Game 5 - at stepping around the defenders on his way to the basket.
They’ve done a really good job all series at staying in three-pointer shooters laps. Bucks have had a hard time getting open shots. The biggest problem is that they’ve missed their open ones.
Imagine a Dallas/Boston final and they defended Luka this way. Luka would get thrown out of every game on technicals.
