You can’t be diagnosed with bipolar disorder without having at least one hypomanic or manic episode. That’s how you know they have it instead of depression, anxiety, OCD, etc.
Did she have an iphone or android?

Iphone. I am aware of the android tool and even tried it out(it is insanely accurate), but no experience with the iphone version.

She could be hypomanic, which people might not recognise and name as “manic”

I deleted my post because I mistakenly thought this was old. Sum it up, sorry for you and your family, hope she is found safe and sound. Wish I had some insight into finding a good pi, but best you can do is interview and go with your gut because it seems unlikely you will find a referral.
A referral for a pi through an attorney might be worthwhile.

Yes this is probably your best bet. Ask around for a relatively honest criminal defense attorney, or personal injury lawyer. Then call up that person for a private detective who is not a total sleazeball. Good luck this sounds like a tough one

I think your only leverage with the police will be emotional so that is the way I would approach it.
You should report and give photos to the local news orgs either way. Depending on how much time you have,you could make fliers and put them up locally.
Don’t forget to check with all of the local hospitals.

I spoke with the detective this morning over the phone and pled my case for obtaining a warrant for GPS/phone records. The standard is probable cause which is “facts and evidence that would lead a reasonable person to think that a crime may have been committed”. It is normally thought of as a pretty low standard. Somewhere between 40-51% depending on who you ask. I think the evidence here is pretty obvious she didn’t just run off. I went point by point with everything I had. He asked me to email him a bullet point list of our call and said he would go knock doors to try and get enough evidence for a warrant but I don’t trust it. I did record the call so if they do nothing it’s probably scorched earth time.
One strange thing is that the detective assigned to the case is a 32 year homicide detective? Makes no sense.

2.5 hour drive. My parents and almost her entire social circle is there. Yes in person is better. I had hearings today I could not get away from.

If it’s alright with you, I"m going to post your sister’s photo and name and the suspect in various subreddits. Will also mention where she works. Nothing more than that seems necessary/useful. r/Wichita has 72K members.
If you can get even a single lead, it could make it much easier to get a yes from the police or make it much easier on who ends up doing the detective work.

As an outsider looking in here; with the information we’ve gotten, it is not obvious that it’s foul play. I get it because nobody would be thinking logically in your position but that message to all his known family/associates on facebook was an incredibly stupid thing to do. Still do the fliers media get the word out check around hospitals and all that stuff. I don’t know what scorched earth means in your mind but you’re not thinking logically or clearly right now and I don’t want you to do another really stupid thing.
Bi polar people are also well known to just disappear. Cop seems to be doing what he can do though I also think it’s weird it’s a homicide detective but like everyone else here I have no idea how something like this is handled over there.
Yeah, in Southeast Asia people go missing all the time and the family always thinks it’s kidnapping, trafficking, possible murder but the vast majority of the time it’s a mental health breakdown. Although I realize this isn’t particularly helpful
