Must be some kind of @LKJ festivus but instead of grievances it is bad takes on movies? ![]()
Interesting because in its era reality TV was basically just The Real World and Road Rules.
Uh itās clearly Cinderella Man.
I mean I saw that in theaters but lol.
Compare it to something like EDtv (1999), a much less entertaining version.
I donāt think Iāve enjoyed a Jim Carrey movie since Fun with Dick and Jane (2005) ![]()
Nah, that oneās great. I remember being so invested in the last fight in the theaters that I wanted to harm that Max dude he was up against.
I canāt; I didnāt watch that one. I do remember thinking, āwait, so itās the Truman Show, but everyone says itās worse?ā Wasnāt a tough decision to skip.
Now THAT is a truly unwatchable movie. I grant that Master and Commander is way better than that one. It was all over for Carrey after Eternal Sunshine (one of his best).
Watched from the proper perspective Fun with Dick and Jane isnāt bad. It just had a malevolent spirit.
Jim Carrey power rankings:
- The Cable Guy
- Eternal Sunshine
- Liar Liar
- Dumb and Dumber
- The Mask
- End of particularly good options
- I guess Truman Show
Just finished Dead Reckoning Part 1. First hour and a half was well paced outside of the clunky exposition. Last 45 minutes dragged a bit also with clunky exposition. Itās one where you really have to leave your head at the door, including with the name of the title being Dead Reckoning Part 1. The second one is not called Dead Reckoning Part 2. I still found it enjoyable even though I hadnāt seen a full one of these since 2. 3 put me to sleep and I never went back.
This movie had an amazing sound mix that Iām surprised didnāt win the Oscar. This mix was hard af and almost everything sat exactly right for me. Iāll be watching Part 2 shortly.

No The Majestic or Man in the Moon?
I never actually saw The Majestic. Reaction to it wasnāt very inspiring. Man on the Moon was a strong Carrey performance in service of a movie I could not bring myself to actually care about. He did what he could with it though.
That would be the best Trump cameo movie if Zoolander didnāt exist.
Itās a movie for cinephiles. But if thatās youā¦
So you missed the three best ones?
The original is the best one.
Fallout does make its case though.
Ive got the original at number 4 after rewatch behind Fallout, Ghost Protocol, and Rogue Nation
Train Dreams
Very beautifully shot film. Very slow moving, which didnāt bother me at all, but might turn some off.
Wasnāt completely on board with all the plot points, but certainly with most.
Like Hamnet, a very worthy BP nominee if it manages to receive one.

Just finished the final MI and hoo boy it could have been called The Final Talkening. It had endless barf worthy exposition. It took roughly 1.5 hours to get going which was right about where the last one started going downhill. That meant we got over 2.5 hours of not great movies over 2 parts. Not great Bob.
The set pieces were good and Esaiās death was hilarious in the vein of the boxing scene in Raiders , but it was very hard to redeem this movie overall. I donāt regret watching it but these movies overall could have been a lot better with a major knife taken to them. I almost want to do that myself and will consider doing it. This could have been really fun as one movie, but it seemed like they only knew how theyād end part 2 and the heist (all good writing) but basically nothing else. It just was not tight to me and way too long.
I also do not trust that really was it.
