Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 3)

Oh okay lol

I think they’re both statues??

Neither are statues, you didn’t know he had a twin?

Of course! Alfred Borden strikes again.

Top ten all time funniest movie.

I was going to say how the hell do you not know her but then I looked at the imdb and it’s not what I imagined.

Firefly and Homeland probably what I would have pointed to as her most recognizable roles.

One of the most beautiful women on earth imo.

For me she has been a constant presence since 2002 and Firefly. She was so famous at conventions for that alone for years. Then she did Serenity, Stargate, Homeland, two animated Batman movies, all three Deadpools, Greenland.

A long time ago I think 2008, I saw her on a panel at Dragon Con and someone used their question to lament that we’d never get to see them kiss.

Nathan grinned at Morena and they delighted the fans with a big one.

The first time I watched Superman (2025), I thought it was just fine.

The second time, I couldn’t finish it. The novelty had worn off.

The third time, I thought it was great.

I still have the same two complaints. Superman gets his butt kicked way too often, and it’s absurd to suggest Luthor can think faster than Superman. But otherwise it’s fun and I’m looking toward to the next one.

On the third watch (next one)…

Thought the new Superman was fantastic right from the get-go. ā€œ3 min ago, Supes got his ass kickedā€ is an A+ way to start off a movie.

Well me too. It’s just not fun seeing it happen over and over. There’s no significance to opening with Superman losing a fight if everyone else in the movie also beats him into the ground. And then the explanation of HOW Ultraman keeps beating him is stupid.

Next thing you’re gonna tell me is how you hate James Bond being beat up.

I think it’s great that yet another iteration of a well-known character doesn’t start with the origin story.

If you open with a text stating how shocking it is for Bond to lose a single fight, then yes, everyone else beating him up nullifies the setup.

But we all saw Superman II. All you need is some crypto and he’s powerless against you. Lex probably has cornered the crypto market.

It’s true that Superman probably does not understand the complexities of decentralized digital currency. And in his moment of confusion, Lex could potentially deliver a critical strike.

I think it’s the first DC movie in ages that plays into the goofiness and silliness of the DC universe. Also, the minor characters in the Justice Gang are pitch-perfect. ā€œI’m goddamn Mr. Terrificā€

Damnit dog. Those things are expensive!!

You went from ā€œfineā€ to ā€œcan’t finishā€ to watching it a third time? Man, you REALLY wanted to carry Frodo up that mountain.
