Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 3)

Point Break picking nits:

  1. There is no beach in SoCal that you can drive your Jeep onto like that.
  2. When the hell is Bohdi going to have time to watch college football?
  3. You’re gonna raid a drug house full of people with 5 FBI guys?
  4. I’ve never heard of big waves at Dana Point. But maybe that was the point.
  5. I’m pretty sure SOP isn’t to open fire on fleeing bank robbers in the middle of the street.

You didn’t pick a nit with Kiedis’s horrible ADR screams after being shot in the foot?

Seems like how he’d scream.

Maybe they shot his foot in the ADR booth.

This movie had me convinced that Benioff would do Game of Thrones justice.

Whoops

Dave Chappelle 1h15m into the movie: “my friend ET died. He fuckin died"

W/o looking it up, see if you can guess who she’s dancing with.

Well there are other factors than talent

She’s a huge nepo baby (heiress to a French cinema empire) so this makes her a priori unlikable and on top of that, had the effect that for the few years before that movie came out she was in seemingly every French movie that came out (even if I didn’t see them), so yeah it took me a while to get over that (but I definitely am now !)

Big contrast with her co-star Adele Ex.. from that movie who was unknown before (huge star now) and has a much more down to earth image, so everyone likes her

Inside Man?

I have probably seen ET eight times, wizard of oz twenty times, and titanic twice.

You some kind of pinko commie?

Yup, that one’s great. But I would put it behind 25th Hour somewhat comfortably.

No guesses? I guarantee you all know the part the actor is famous for, and most will know the actor by name.

Even youngs will know the role the actor was famous for.

Yes and I did after I looked him up but never would have guessed. I’m 45 so oldish myself

I know that one of those dancers was the ambassador to Czechoslovakia during the Velvet Revolution.

Idk, scarecrow from Wizard of Oz?

Another clue: “Welllll doggies!”

It’s pretty fascinating to watch the evolution of entertainment from stuff like that to what we have now. Like in the Simpsons when some character does a vaudeville shuffle, it’s basically an echo from these times. A good project would be to watch the biggest movie every year from the silent days to now.
