Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

Random question: Has anyone seen Blowdry?

Forgive me if you already said, did you watch Palm Springs yet? It’s on Hulu but that was a damn fine movie I can’t imagine you not liking.

Narrator:

I didn’t love this movie but it was filmed partly in my neighborhood in Toronto. For me it’s funny to see them eating pizza at the Pizza Pizza across from Honest Ed’s for example.

Hard thumbs down on Blockers. Feels like a parody of an Apatow film with heavy handed social commentary.

I only watched s few minutes before realizing I’m over Leslie Mann and I Don’t Like Ike.

Yeah that was my thought as well. Seemed like a film I should have liked, but yeah try too hard to exactly what I felt.

But I still like the Brie Larson song number

(and yeah the “try hard” shows up in the clip, but :heartpulse: Brie Larson)

Palm Springs was pretty good!

Watched Paris, Texas the other day twas a lovely film. I enjoy slow burning movies so this was right up my alley.

A+ to the opening scene and color palettes used throughout the film.

Wick and Bourne. I need people who never EVER lose, and The Bride gets shot down twice.

Hot Rod

Huge winner with the teen and tween. A cooked goose for everyone!

Hate to break it to you, but Bourne got shot down twice. Once moments before Bourne Identity opens, second at the end of Ultimatum.

Plus that dude is off his chems!

This is in my top 10. Amazing film.

More of your film likes please to up the proportion of good vs dross itt.

Have you seen Wings Of Desire?

First one doesn’t count because he wouldn’t shoot someone in front of a kid. John Wick has no such scruples.

(Edit: But now that I think of it…neither does the Bride! Dangit.)

Ummm wtf is AJ doing on this list? Did I miss the 7th season of Sopranos where AJ gets all the revenge for Tony’s death and takes down New York?

I’m lazy and copied the image from someone else. Never see Sopranos myself…

AJ Soprano and Upham, clearly.

I haven’t seen Wings of Desire but it’s definitely on my watch list now! I’m been on a 80’s/early 90’s film binge so I’m all ears for film recommendations.

Some films from different regions that I enjoyed quite a bit:

Phoenix (German 2014)
Oslo August 31 (Noreweign 2011)
Love Exposure (Japanese 2008)
Mystery Train (1989)
A Seperation (Iranian 2011)
The Best of Youth (Italian 2003)

Have you seen…
