Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

Oh that’s right!!! When we watched Color of Money, you said

Jesus. Of all the Scorsese films…

My man LOL. But that’s a great movie!!! Paging @ElSapo

Okay so what about these…

The Fly
Ocean’s 11/12/13/8
The Thing
The Departed
3:10 to Yuma
The Jungle Book (2016)
A Star is Born (2018)
12 Monkeys
True Grit
Insomnia
The Parent Trap (1998)
Evil Dead II
Three Men and a Baby (1987)
The Birdcage
Peter Pan (2003)
Dawn of the Dead (2004 by…Zack Snyder WTF?!)
The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Homeward Bound: the Incredible Journey (1993)
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Scent of a Woman
Freaky Friday (2003)
A Little Princess (1995)
Casino Royale (2006)

Disagree so hard. It was steaming.

:man_shrugging: haven’t seen the original and remake of any of those.

Admittedly, I don’t remember much of it. I just remember watching it and thinking it was a perfectly decent flick, but one that had no reason to exist. Remaking it with CGI and shit didn’t improve anything.

Well no wonder!!! Are you down to watch a few in a Watch Party? It’d be so much fun to watch the original one week, then the remake the following week, rinse repeat for a bunch of other remakes throughout the year. All the better if you despise all of the remakes and trash them imo, but you might be missing out on movies you’ll be surprised you love.

Sources say that Scott will play Lewis Dodgson, the mysterious man in the red shirt and sunglasses who provided Wayne Knight ‘s Dennis Nedry with a fake can of Barbasol shaving cream to store the stolen dinosaur embryos. When Nedry is killed by a Dilophosaurus, the canister containing the embryos is buried in mud… but perhaps it will resurface in Dominion ?

HOL UP

Dodgson’s reemergence may serve as the catalyst for the return of the franchise’s three original heroes, Dr. Alan Grant ( Sam Neill ), Dr. Ellie Sattler ( Laura Dern ), and Dr. Ian Malcolm ( Jeff Goldblum ), all of whom will have sizable roles in Dominion .

Watch the all-new short film Battle at Big Rock now.

BATTLE AT BIG ROCK is an all-new short film directed by Colin Trevorrow, written by Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael.

The short takes place one year after the events of the last Jurassic World film in Big Rock National Park, where dinosaurs are now living in our world. The story follows a family of four whose encounter with these wild animals becomes a terrifying fight for survival.

If you want to time travel you can go see a movie here this week as theatres open today.

The Jon Stewart-directed Irresistible comes out today. I’ll probably pony up the $20 so I can maybe see myself for a second or two. I portrayed a Republican political consultant, so it was a real test of my acting (read: standing or sitting) chops.

I hope you don’t get typecast :zipper_mouth_face:

I have too much catching up on TV series to do, sorry. I hasn’t started Dark yet or The Twilight Zone. Life’s too short.

Naw jalf, it’s all good.

I haven’t seen Dark S1. Just the first episode. I too have limited time and as anyone can see am busy watching mountains of other stuff anyway.

The banner is just me planting a tree to offer shade for someone other than myself. Like when I offered you my friendship.

Uncut Gems

9/10

Afterwards I read a view calling it over hyped and I have to agree but only against the most hyperbolic hype. There were reviews call it edge of your pants nail biter, adrenaline rushing, etc. and I just didn’t that much of an extreme reaction to it. Some scenes were hectic but I didn’t have the edge of my seat reaction I did to, say, Deception. When Sander gets beat up it’s not even that brutal, and mostly comical; naked in a car, pushed in a fountain.

It’s an excellent movie and I’d highly recommend it. The score at the beginning was weird though. I was playing Civilization before I watched it and I had to check to see if the sound of the movie was the only sound playing because it sounded like some Civilization music was on in the background. Anyways, great movie, Adam Sandler has done his one serious movie so he can go back to making 10 cashing in movies.

Watched Irresistible tonight. Directed by Jon Stewart, stars Steve Carrell and Rose Byrne, among others.

Decent. Not amazing, but entertaining.

Big-time D.C. Democratic consultant who worked on Hillary’s campaign finds a guy in a small Wisconsin town who he thinks he can help win a mayoral race. Tiny town mayoral race gets national attention, turns into a bit of a circus.

Again, it’s good, but could’ve been better. Slow build, would’ve liked to see more craziness.

I was in one scene - two others were cut.

Yo I know I’m a bit late on this one, but I just saw Mulholland Drive for the first time. Scorching takes incoming:

This was maybe the most overrated film I’ve ever seen (Holy Motors is another solid contender) and Lynch is a pretentious one trick pony without anything interesting to say. Twin Peaks is probably also the most overrated show ever put to air.

Yikes. Friends off!

J/k. This is not for everyone.

I’m with you on this. Lynch is just boring. “Look at me! Look at me! I’m being surreal! WooooOOOooOOOooo!” Meh.
