Right. Both that and Expend4bles are incredibly stupid.
Put Se7en in the stupid category as well. I guess thatâs there as a visual aid in case the audience hasnât learned to count to seven.
Tangentially, does Fast Saga have the most schizophrenic naming schema for titles ever?
The Fast and the Furious
2 Fast 2 Furious
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Fast and Furious
Fast 5
Fast & Furious 6 (ampersand time!)
Furious 7
The Fate of the Furious
Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw
F9
Fast X
The only consistency is that there is no consistency. Actually 1 and 3 stand out just for being too alike!
Se7en was a terrible title, hands-down worst use of the gimmick.
Apparently Final Destination 5 was originally going to be titled â5nal Destinationâ, but then the producers noticed that it kinda looked like âAnal Destinationâ.
I havenât watched the video, but my reaction to the title is a painful eyeroll.
If there isnt a porn with this very title I am going to be soreley disappointed
Now I am hoping they make a God4ther
LKJ just died a little inside.
As a Godfather Part III apologist (who obviously still sees it as a huge step down from the first two; I just think itâs merely good whereas the first two are untouchably elite), ~20 years ago I tried to argue at length with a friend who labeled it a âcash grab,â arguing how necessary it was to the full story, etc. Then I got the DVD of it and Francis Ford Coppola spends the whole commentary track going, âYeah, I never really wanted to make this, but I fell on hard times financially, soâŚâ Feels like he downright belabored that point just to fully ensure that there was no doubt I was wrong. And in fairness, I suspect I was arguing in bad faith anyway, so my comeuppance was deserved.
FFC also spends a lot of other time in the commentary track being defensive about the criticism of Sofiaâs performance. On one hand, I obviously get why he feels the need to do that. On the other hand, câmon man. Itâs basically the only performance I can think of when thinking of the WOAT acting performances.
Sorry to hear that. Hope youâll give their discussion a shot.
Godfather 3 is another great Rewatchables episode. It really is a pretty good movie if you can avoid benchmarking it against the first two.
Yeah I remember enjoying that one. I first discovered Rewatchables when YT pushed the Rewatchables ep on GF II into my recommendations, so their episodes on that trilogy were my first listens.
Admittedly I canât remember a ton of specifics about the GF III podcast aside from CR repeatedly saying âImmobiliareâ in some impression voice that not only didnât resemble the bishopâs, but basically didnât resemble any human voice ever.
To this day I cannot fathom that they just let Robert Duvall walk away from the project over money, particularly when his publicly stated ask was to get 50% of what Pacino was getting.
Commando turned out to be an awesome Rewatchables episode, as was Cocktail. Itâs great when they mostly make fun of the movie.
Cocktail is awesome though. Yeah, itâs absurd when the movie suddenly decides that it wants to take itself seriously at the end, but regardless the movie is great fun.
Fede Alvarez, the director of Donât Breathe and the Evil Dead reboot, is bringing us the first new Alien movie after the Disney acquisition.
I am of mixed feelings about this.
I loved the first Donât Breathe, and Disney got my attention with their first swing at Predator.
Having said that, Donât Breathe 2 was a ghastly approach to bringing back the blind man, as were the directorâs comments about why Jane Levy didnât return for the sequel.
The real problem with Dont Breathe 2 is they made the Blind Man the protagonist. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?
You know who should be our lead in this new movie? The guy who kidnapped, artificially inseminated against her will, and then murdered a young woman in the first movie.
Then tried to do it a second time! Yeah! The perfect main character!
Exactly!! There were a million different ways to bring him back that didnât position him as an anti hero. The stuff he did as the villain in the first movie was unforgivable.
So it just makes me wonder what his story instincts will be for an Alien movie.
Aw hell, leave the Alien franchise alone, Disney. Hasnât it suffered enough?
I really liked Prometheus.
It definitely has flaws but plenty of great parts.
