Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

Wow, big Tarantino fan?

I would love for Parasite to win. I wanted to love Ford v Ferrari, but I have never been so bored at a racing movie :frowning:

Just finished watching Jojo Rabbit. Good movie but the overall goofiness took a while to get used to and I am still not sure what to think of that choice. Not a best picture contender in my mind.

I’ll also admit to not getting around to the irishman/marriage story yet.

Hahaha I ordered food delivery and put in the special instructions field “Happy Oscars!” Someone sent a note back saying HAPPY OSCARS TO YOU TOO! Made my night.

Brad Pitt!

John Bolton!

“I’ve only got 45 seconds up here, which is more than the senate gave John Bolton”

“Maybe Tarantino will make a movie where in the end the senate does the right thing”

are both great lines

here comes Parasite

Jojo rabbit beating Little Women is pure sexism.

I think I have disagreed with every single thing Clovis has ever said. He is so completely and totally wrong on every opinion I’m actually getting a creepy Truman Show vibe that he’s here to test me.

Fave movie released this year was One Cut of the Dead but it had a 2017 Japanese release and I don’t know how the rules work. Of the nominees JoJo was the most interesting and entertaining (congrats Taika!) but I think 1917 is going to win the biggie.

This is the first year in which I’ve seen nearly all of the major contenders (didn’t see Little Women or Joker --but I think I get the gist of what Joker was all about). I’m actually curious to see how the awards shake out for the first time ever.

I was skeptical at first because “What if Hitler was goofy?” seems like a trope that’s been played out. But I thought all the performances were solid and I got legitimately emotionally invested in it. It’s not Best Picture material, but I hope it gets something.

Finally, the heart and soul of Jurassic Park gets her due

Good old Randy Newman performing Toy Story songs for 24 years now

Pretty standard fare. Definitely enjoy the no host approach, keeps the show going.

Dude costarred with Shia in Peanut Butter Falcon and was awesome in it

In the last 10 years, Will Ferrell has aged 20 years and Julia Louis-Dreyfus has aged 3.

Eminem was great but I’m not sure why he was there

She may as well have gotten younger. She has an eternal elegance.

I thought for sure he was going to sing a controversial track so was first playing a classic to remind people how much they love him.

Hope James Corden and Rebel Wilson also show up in those costumes for their future Razzie wins
