Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

Just doing a quick drive-by to echo everyone else: Top Gun: Maverick absolutely ruled.

I am beyond hyped for this. I just watched them all a month or 2 ago and Blue instantly became one of my favorite movies ever. I like them all and Red is on par, just personally due to the music theme Blue hit me harder. I bought the Blu ray set and then found out about the restoration and returned it unopened and will just wait for updated UHD Janus appears to be doing up for Criterion

Another vote for these being some of the absolute best movies every made. All three are BANGERS.

This regularly happens with new big blockbuster releases. These that immediately go see it and vote on imdb are the most dedicated fans giving the movie lots of high ratings. The rating will normalize once more of the general population will have watched it.

Ah wow you guys weren’t kidding about how great these movies are, watch Blue last night and it hit the spot. Looking forward to the next two.

Struck me as a cartoon revenge porn with strong fascist elements. Very, very broad in all aspects. Don’t like history, just make up new history. Orwellian.

Okay, yeah. Just rewatched both of these. Definitely got caught up in the magic of the underdog.

Forgot how good the horns are in TGBU.

Close though. Probably comes down to what I watched last. The watch music is just so enchanting. Really does sound like something from a 70’s horror film. Definitely a unique visual.

Saw the new Adam Sandler Hustle film. Lame paint by numbers crap. 2/5

Oh Jesus Christ. They’re gonna ruin Clerks. I mean Clerks 2 was right on the border of them being too old. Clerks 3 is gonna suck so much.

And I’m still gonna watch it.

Never even heard of half of these.

And another cosign for City of God.

You’re just fucking with us, right? You haven’t seen the best one? But you saw Star Wars?

And you’re going to watch Clerks 3?

I saw The Phantom Menace too if that helps

FTR I thought both Star Wars movies sucked.

Phantom menace actually does suck.

Did you see Star Wars when you were a kid?

First one I saw was TPM in theaters. Then about a decade later was talked into watching A New Hope. Think I was 26-27 at the time.

OK, that explains a ton. If my first exposure to Star Wars was The Phantom Menace, I’m not sure the franchise would ever be able to redeem itself.

If you watched Star Wars when you were ~10 like a normal kid, I’m sure things would have turned out differently.

Saw Top Gun: Maverick today. It was very good. Not top 50 of all time good, but very enjoyable. Like Force Awakens, it’s basically a remake of the original with new characters. Not that that’s a bad thing, the nostalgia was fun. You can definitely tell they did a lot of the action stuff for real/semi-for real - the care they took in those scenes shines through.

dlk9s jr enjoyed it, despite never seeing the original (I gave him a quick synopsis beforehand). I would assume it’s better if you’ve seen the original and specifically if you saw it in the 80s or 90s, as the nostalgia would hit better.

I think most ~15 year olds wouldn’t mind TPM. I saw it a little younger and loved it, but thats what being ~10 will do.
