Italian job was fun
Ronin
Original, yes. Remake⌠nah.
Get the Cobra Kai writers on this. They did a good job early on convincing me Daniel was the asshole.
Remake was great while they were in Italy. Then it turned into forgettable LA crime movie.
âLe cercle rougeâ by French 60s master Melville, starring Alain Delon, is a pretty great classic Euro heist movie.
Also worth checking out Melvilleâs other movies especially âthe samuraiâ (hugely influential noir with Delon as a quiet killer) and âarmy of shadowsâ (about the French resistance in ww2) if you havenât seen them.
Le Samurai is great, I watched it recently.
I would add Dog Day Afternoon to the list if great films that people usually wouldnât consider a âheist filmâ. But itâs at least heist-adjacent.
For a more traditional heist movie, this is one of my favorites that is a little obscure.
Rick and Morty Season 4, Episode 3
The heist movie with Ed Norton, Deniro and Brando was pretty good. Not best ever or anything but I remember liking it.
âŚwas not good. (Like a lot of the first half of that season)
Ah yes - The Score, directed by Cookie Monster!
Have to agree. Individually, all 3(!) of the car chases in Ronin are some of the best ever filmed, and having them all in the same movie puts it solidly at the top. Iâd also rate it one of the best overall Euro-thrillers.
Ronin also written my David Mamet
âHave you ever killed anyone?â
âI hurt somebodyâs feelings once.â
this was enjoyable to watch back in the day as well. more of a classic hollywood age heist com.
