The Academy looooooooooves movies about show biz, so with that in mind those are here to stay.
Movies about movies are awesome. It’s one of my favourite genres.
Tried to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. So corny and boring.
Oh man there are tons. I’ll make a best of list tonight for you.
Ed Wood
Adaptation
The Life Aquatic w/ Steve Zissou
Hail Caesar
Hooper
The Artist & Bowfinger if you have insomnia
I’m def borrowing a copy of Cats when my library gets a copy; this seems like the most insane disasterpiece since The Room.
Wife and I are def going to get trashed and watch it when it gets released to DVD in 2 weeks.
So I saw a short clip.
Is this essentially Pitch perfect in weird humanoid cat suits?
Like, Rebel Wilson is doing her same wacky slapstick except shes dressed up in this hideous costume and pretending to be a cat while doing it?
Wtf is happening?
I was dying reading this as she live tweeted. The only twitter thread you need about Cats

That… actually looks like it has the potential to not suck?
Yeah I think it’ll probably be decent. They’re going for a different tone, different type of movie, clearly, so it might be cool. Looks a bit Stranger Things-ish.
Also, the lead kid’s name is FINN WOLFHARD, so it’s got that going for it.
RedLetterMedia talk about it here, btw.
Edit: Also as far as I can tell, it is neither a reboot nor retcons the 2016 movie (not even sure what the latter means).
Looks like another exercise in milking nostalgia value from 80’s kids. I’m surprised JJ Abrams isn’t involved.
Yeah well everything is nostalgia now, it’s impossible for anything to be new, I’m just taking that as a given.
Means it acts like it never happened, removes it from the canon. At least that’s what I took from “no ghosts sighted for 30 years” and the gleeful blathering of the libertarian at work…
It’s pretty much always been nostalgia, the guys producing the stories are recapturing their youth. One of the first TV shows I remember that was huge was Happy Day’s.
Been a strong year for movies. Knives Out, Parasite, The Lighthouse, Ford vs. Ferrari, Uncut Gems looks very good and there are probably others I’m forgetting.
Apollo 11, Endgame are the two that jumped to my mind.
