Fun fact… the guy that played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar Live was Aaron Burr after Leslie Odom finished his run. He also gave the famous cast statement to Mike Pence when he saw Hamilton.
Brandon Victor Dixon. He was Tom Collins in Rent (almost) Live last year. My friend somehow landed the role of Roger. BVD had me in tears during “I’ll cover you”. I would have loved to see his Burr. May have been better than Odom.
This is from the show they did live after my friend broke his foot during dress rehearsal. They ended up airing the dress rehearsal, but BVD kills it on both.
Another historical interjection; even though he wrote the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson is really awful. The Declaration itself is way overrated as a document and Jefferson is basically a modern Republican.
You should watch the broadcast show start to finish sometime! Jordan Fisher (Laurens/Phillip in Hamilton after Ramos. The current Evan Hansen too!) Tinashe, Vanessa Hudgens and my friend with his big break as Roger.
I grew up next door to Roger, and our families are basically second families to each other. My parents and everyone flew out to LA for the live taping. The day before the live broadcast, Brennin broke his ankle during dress rehearsal. No understudies (lol) so they had to air the dress rehearsal for most of the broadcast. He rolled out there on pain meds and in a cast for the finale and absolutely fucking crushes Your Eyes. Sucks that we didn’t get a true Rent Live, but such is life.
The stage and production on Rent Live is incredible (won an Emmy for prod design I believe). If you want a more traditional show, they recorded the last Broadway run with Angelica Schuyler as Mimi.
Hercules Mulligan may be a minor figure in the Revolutionary War, but his wikipedia page is a great read. You could make a solid historical spy movie out of his history.
burr’s describing hamilton and i’m like why is burr praising hamilton like this? no, LAFAYETTE blasts out of nowhere talking about how good he is at killing english soldiers lol
Book of Mormon is the only other professional musical I’ve ever watched, so that hits the crossover category of musical for people who normally aren’t into musicals.
While this is temporarily a place for history talk, let’s talk about how terrible the American Presidency has been.
Washington was a pretty solid leader and turned down becoming King for life so he gets a good grade despite some issues
2-15. A mix of jackasses and ineffective president’s. Polk may have legitimately been the best of this group if you take out historical feelings of importance because someone is considered a “founding father”
Lincoln the GOAT
17-25. Yikes
Teddy was pretty good but kinda a jackass
27-31. Let’s just be thankful they didn’t completely kill the country.
FDR the 2nd GOAT
Literally the dumbest President we’ve ever had, not kidding Truman’s IQ was likely lower than Donny. Plus he’s the only leader in the history of the world stupid enough to use a nuclear weapon. Seriously fuck Truman.
Ike was a decent leader for his time.
Why do all the good Presidents die in office?
36-43. Shit show
Obama wasn’t the best but on this curve he was actually pretty elite just by being a smart and competent leader.
