Everyone who has done it is someone who has been in this thread or the NBZ thread arguing with me, some aggressively, and it’s clearly intended to troll me. While the number of posts seems like not that many, it’s roughly doubled the amount of flagged posts.
Agreed, but we need the community to come together to make the rules. Most of the community doesn’t seem interested in rolling up its sleeves and getting to work.
I nominate you to head up the committee, because I think you’re a very respected poster who does not have too strong of an opinion on either side of what the rules are, but is more interested in just getting them set up via consensus.
I volunteer to join the committee and participate in the process. I also suggest that we stipulate a minimum number of voters in the poll to approve the final rules, to make sure that the community is truly speaking on the matter.
Whatever we do can we do it soon please? I’m sick of the navel gazing. Stuff is happening on a minute by minute basis.
On a related not how are the people who aren’t gainfully unemployed continuing to get work done? I’m super glad this isn’t happening in the middle of a busy period for me with work… Even if it’s not great for my mental health I feel like I’m watching history unfold in real time.
I personally don’t want to be involved in any decision making when it comes to the rules of the forum.
I think we need to trust 5-10 posters to get together, hash out the rules, and then implement them.
This thread just seems counterproductive. Eventually it is going to come to sitting down and doing the work.
Edit: Just read cuserounder’s post about joining a committee. I agree that is what needs to happen.
People vote with their posts, and people love drama. It’s always been that way and it always will be that way.
I’m in jt, and yes ppl who think it’s going to be too strict should be on, nbz is welcome to be on like Myanmar is on the UN human rights council, in fact it should just be an open thread just with some effort made to have more structure, less settling of current beefs, ultimately to get some rules down to for us to vote on
In isolation, no. You’d have to me move the poster to TL0 and lock them at that trust level, which would be a pretty severe punishment imo.
Not currently. We could remove the ability to flag staff posts (I would be opposed to this), then make the bot a mod.
Yep. And right now it’s doing real damage to the community.
The schadenfreude would break me
new thread jt or shall we continue here?
Completely disagree. The more egregious a tweet of the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is, the less sense does it make to hide it. This is not a if we ignore it it will go away situation. It’s not like we can deny him a platform. He already has all the platforms in the world. A hypothetical “thinking about nuking Iran” tweet should get a lot of attention.
I disagree on this part. We have to ultimately vote on what to present to the community, and if we leave it open all the way through people could not participate then reject what we come up with and make us start all over. It should lock once we begin, and then anyone who doesn’t get in at that point can vote with the community at the end.
Ok, I’m fine with that but we really need to roust more members to participate then I feel like? Like a lot more? 8-12 ideally?
Ideally an odd number, 7-13 imo.
I’m in if no one objects.
Jesus if we promise to make it fast I’m on board I guess. Blah. Use me if you need me
Don’t like this post lol. I’m doing it against my better judgement.
That all sounds good to me. And yes, we should leave things open for people to volunteer for a while. It’s only been a few hours.
Come on now, we’re making progress. Let’s enjoy the process of putting some B.S. drama behind us and getting back to memes and arguments.
Literally the only reason I threw my hat in. I didn’t want to wait an excruciatingly long time to hit 7 people.
I will also volunteer for this, but my response time is in hours and not minutes typically.
I’ll cast my lot
