This story is crazy, not sure if it’s been in the national news. Woman disappears in Los Angeles after missing a connecting flight from Hawaii to New York. Send some texts that definitely make it look like she’s had a psychotic break. Family comes to LA to look for her and during the search her father kills himself. Reddit thread has a bunch of additional info.

The father killing himself is really weird.

From the texts that were reported it seems like she may have been wrapped up in some identity theft/romance scam/trafficking thing, which is pretty common in LA. Quite sad the father killed himself. I guess after 2 weeks the odds of finding her are low.
This happens to black women on a daily basis and is barely ever reported.
