Melania and Misogyny

Ok, but let’s unpack this a bit. You have two people.

Person 1: broke old guy who successfully cons a much younger, gold-digging, power hungry model into marrying him by convincing her that he’s actually rich.

Person 2: younger model who aspires to be a gold digger but gets played by a con man.

I mean, neither one is great, but are we sure that individual 1 is the one who comes off looking bad here?

Remember when this thread was about Trumps taxes? I’d pay $750 to get it back on topic.

Yeah ok but we’re parsing this assuming he’s really broke and not just making fun of him for being sort of broke. Person 2 has still shat on a solid gold toilet for decades, been the toast of the town, and is now the first lady of the most powerful country on earth (maybe just barely still).

So she’s lived more trappings of wealth, status and power than anyone can imagine. I guess the only way she got played is if she was really hoping to walk away with a billion when he dies or they get divorced. Are we really saying that’s a legitimate life choice that shouldn’t be criticized - marrying with the hope of ridding the person and being wealthy some day?

This is what I’m confused about too. Is it the phrase itself?

Is it still misogynistic to call Melania a woman who married an older rich guy so she could lead a rich life and inherit his wealth when he croaks? Because, like, that’s exactly what happened.

Honest question - is there a way of attacking her on the issue of pre-nup or Trump being broke that you wouldn’t consider misogynistic? Do you consider this misogynistic?

I still am trying to parse all this, but I guess I can see the term gold-digger does imply some kind of imbalance - in that men never get accused of being “hot diggers” or w/e.

But it seems like if you want it that way you have to come clean and admit women marry for status and money - and good luck getting most individual women to admit that’s why they married. I think the only reason I landed my ex, who is way out of my league - was we worked at the same job where I was one of the top developers and had “status”. I jokingly said something to that effect once and she got pissed at me. I guess it was my innate hotness after all. It definitely wasn’t money as she has a lot more than me.

Also I never want to hear a woman make a small penis crack again. Poor small penis guys driving a Prius, don’t even own a gun, just trying to live their life - don’t need to hear that. Not me of course, I’m hung like a giraffe.

Maybe we don’t need to try to figure out why a woman enters into a relationship with someone and attack them if you don’t like the reason?

Maybe she just likes his personality.

You also want your laundered cash to recoup the cost of laundering it. You buy properties in places like London as they appreciate faster and (did) have more secure title for Russians than say Moscow.

I think this is probably correct - unless you’re the actual guy in the relationship - then it’s probably ok to speculate for practical reasons.

Isn’t that what the internet is for?

Ok I’m going to try to really be done with this. I agree the images were in poor taste. They were solely to illustrate what’s going on on FB from a completely different argument. I didn’t really feel great about them anyway I and I have no idea why I posted four of them. Melania still sucks for all kinds of reasons.

Precisely because Russia is an organized mob state, once you’ve been made you need to get some assets the fuck out of the country in case you ever find yourself on the outs with the mob and/or so that no one higher up in the mob can just randomly decide to take your shit (Why? Because I can and fuck you, that’s why…).

Western governments/society are happy to play this role for them but the money has to be laundered out of Russia.

This is a much more clear class of people imo.

I saw this tweet. I have ADHD but wasn’t super offended. But if I was a kid in school it might be a different story. Also just saying he has ADHD would be a really dumb insult to begin with. Accusing him of snorting adderall seems fine.

If we’re reevaluating slurs, I’d like to encourage some of you to reconsider how casually you toss around ‘dementia’ as both an insult and diagnosis.

It’s also probably pretty hurtful to actual poor people to laugh at Trump for being broke as if that makes somebody a lesser person.

My grandmother had dementia when she died. It was horrible and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I also think she would have made a terrible President.

Worse than Trump?

Well a really bad President

My uncle is days away from being put in a home. The dementia stuff doesn’t offend me and I doubt he cares too much either.

And stupid people. We’re running out of insults.
