Marvel Cinematic Universe

Unfortunately for DC, they’ve spent a lot of time, energy, and $ trying to convince everybody that they were truly, genuinely deeply troubled by Ezra’s conduct, but simply had to release the film because it was such an amazing artistic achievement (oh, and Keaton Batman is the best Batman, right guys?)

[Meanwhile I’m just sitting here hoping that a disgruntled Max employee is getting ready to leak Batgirl]

Quantumania is much worse than Iron Man 3.

I enjoy the tone and Shane Black-ness of Iron Man 3, but dislike every part of the plot/action

This really does look like it’s going to be an amazing comic book movie and maybe even a little more in the same way as The Dark Knight was, but it does feel kinda awful for stuff like Batgirl to get shelved despite a) amazing representation of diversity in the cast and characters, eg Batgirl’s transgender best friend Alysia and Batgirl herself being played by Leslie Grace, and b) Batgirl also featured Michael Keaton as Batman training Batgirl WTF!!!

Even if the movie was as bad as the studio says (but the star flatly denies), the novelty and cult acclaim alone would make it a prestige product.

You know how they say one for them, one for us? They should have released Batgirl for us. Then sure, I’ll buy a ticket for whatever piece of war drivel Nolan makes next. Clap clap WB.

Michael Keaton doing a Yoda voice: There is hope

Filipino actress Ivory Aquina was playing the live-action adaptation of Batgirl’s/Barbara Gordon’s best friend Alysia Yeoh, who married her girlfriend Jo in Batgirl #45 :transgender_flag:

The character of Alysia Yeoh first appeared in the Batman Vol. 4 comic in 2011, and at the time was noted for being the first transgender character in a mainstream comic book.

In an interview with Wired at the time, DC Comics writer Gail Simone said she had made the decision to introduce Alysia as she felt the comics ought to reflect the diversity of their audience.

“Why in the world can we not do a better job of representation of not just humanity, but also our own loyal audience?” she said.

Just kidding lol I think we’ve got a good chance of seeing Batgirl someday as a lost project, but I have no hope of ever seeing Ivory play Alysia :frowning:

Well, at least there’s Gotham Nights with Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Row… No way, that’s been canceled too!!!

Well at least here’s Batman beating up some homophobes, transphobes, and biphobes.

The DC animated Flashpoint movie is very good and one of ~5 DC comic book stories I can name.

Death of Superman
Superman: Red Son
Flashpoint
Batman Year One
Killing Joke
The Dark Knight Returns

Agreed!!!

Imo Flashpoint is the SECOND best animated DC movie.

Top honors go to Injustice. I could watch that one over and over and over.

The film was developed by NetherRealm Studios, the same folks behind the Mortal Kombat video games. The movie follows Superman’s descent into madness after being tricked by Joker into killing his pregnant wife Lois Lane and detonating a nuclear weapon that destroys Metropolis. As Superman transforms the Earth into a police state to enforce global peace, Batman forms an underground resistance to oppose Superman and his allies.

So many fun moments and one of the funniest representations of Harley Quinn.

It’s basically an adaptation of their earlier video game of the same name, but the cut scenes don’t really do justice to how good the movie is as its own thing. Still worth revisiting that version of the story if you played the games.

For a dumb fighting game, Injustice had some incredible storytelling going on. Better than most any of the DC movies.

And some incredible gameplay. I think it’s still used as a tier game for the big tournaments like EVO.

Just noticed that Disney+ had a lot of non-Disney Marvel content now, including the Netflix shows, Venom, Deadpool, and several Spider-Man movies

Think the Netflix shows have been there for a bit, but the extra Spiderman content is new I’m pretty sure. Unfortunately Far from Home and No Way Home still aren’t there, but it sounds like they could finally migrate their way in before long.

Flash Movie is bad imo. Lots of uncanny valley CGI

CGI is not good. It’s watchable otherwise.

Well I mean other than all the raping the lead did of course

The one true Flash died during a CW crossover event

The original live action Reverse Flash was blue and died in the 90s

I realized the other day that the only post-Endgame Marvel thing I’ve kinda enjoyed is She-Hulk and that is mostly because they brought back this absolute party banger from the 2000’s

I find it funny that Transformers, elemental and flash all bombed or close to it, and while maybe one could have succeeded…it seems a logjam, especially while spiderverse is still hot is 99% of it

Has anyone watched the first and second episode of Secret Invasion? I watched the first episode and thought it was pretty boring just wondering if it gets any better in the second episode.

Same boat. First episode lost me, probably not going to watch further unless the word of mouth gets a lot better.
