1st inning. Two missed calls in opposite directions in the same AB same general location. These aren’t really challenge pitches since (1) they’re close (2) it’s early (3) it’s low leverage. Under any challenge system there’s still gonna be tons of this bullshit which is infuriating to watch, especially since we know they have the correct answer sheet in the back.
Ya gotta believe teams are going to have their own systems so they know whether or not to challenge pretty much constantly.
Decision has to be made instantly by hitter, pitcher, or catcher with no advice. They might have some team system rules like “never challenge before X inning” or only in high-leverage spots but that’s just adding another carnival mini-game to the game.
How about everyone wears a shock collar and whoever is wrong gets zapped.
make a bad challenge-you get zapped.
Make a good challenge-ump gets zapped.
if people trust robo umps to be the last word in a challenge, then they’re good enough to be the first & last word for every pitch forever more. Everything short of that is a doomed half-measure. Figure out a way to communicate ball and strike seamlessly & unobtrusively and have human umps call no more balls and strikes ever again, inshallah
Sometimes I forget how young these guys are:
I have never felt so old in my life
Nice throw and all, but every CF should make that throw > 50% of the time
What they ultimately decide the auto strike zone could matter a lot to some pitchers. Even the most minor stuff like that can make/break careers.
My son-in-law just sold an authenticated Pokemon card on eBay for $700… so he can add to his poker bankroll. ![]()
Mariano Rivera tore his achilles trying to get a fly ball in the yankees old timers game (he tore his ACL going for one in batting practice once). Baseball is ridiculous sometimes.

Brewers have only lost 5 games since July 4th.
3 of those were to Miami. Everyone else 22-2.
Cubs are also 2nd in MLB in run differential and they’re 6 games out of the division lead.
Offense is slumping right now but you can’t keep up with a team who keeps winning like 9 out of every 10 games.
Also I bet the Brewers to win the NL/WS awhile ago, have zero bets on the Cubs, so the Brewers inevitable playoff series loss will hurt me too.
