I use mlbtv and VPN whenever the Ms are playing around here and it mostly works fine on PC or smart TV. Sometimes I have to try a different city (or country for apple games, which sometimes doesn’t work) and I can’t get it to work on my phone. Not that big a hassle, but I only have to deal with it for games against a couple teams.
One of the reasons I think it is this way is because dodgers radio on AM was (and still is imho) a very good station during broadcasts and even before or after tv broadcasts. Especially when vin scully (and fernando, cannot mention dodgers radio without him, he was a broadcaster up until the end) was alive, you’d often mute the tv broadcast and listen to him anyway if he wasn’t on the tv broadcast for whatever reason. So, that is my opinion as to why it is this way and why it’s somehow tolerable even though as a consumer whale it’s extremely insulting that my dollars are no good somehow for this service, but whatever. I’m not sure when this stupid ass deal expires. I’d also rather light myself on fire for whatever $100 a month bullshit direct stream deal that STILL HAS BLACKOUTS inevitably. fuck that. you just dont want my money at that point. I would pay an embarrassing amount just to watch all dodgers normal season games with no bullshit or hoops or special app or new bullshit account or whatever. Just on the normal cable that is provided to my home or the normal major platforms I use, thanks. It really is not a lot to ask for living in the city that hosts the team.
also this isnt even a problem only with home consumers like me, say I wanna go to a local bar and watch the game, usually they won’t have it because of the logistical crap around stuff like this or we have it on this ONE tv you have to watch in the corner (not even kidding i got kicked out of an establishment one october for ranting about that). Just pure nonsense.
Golden at-bat will never happen. And LOL at anyone thinking that Americans would use a Euro prefix like “Golden.” (e.g. “Golden Goal”).
It’s just such a dumb premise.
A more workable option, but probably wouldn’t be much of a game changer, would be to allow a player to remain in the game even after being pinch-hit for, although the pinch-hitter’s role and availability would remain as it is now.
This golden at bat thing is dumb. Let’s say Aaron Judge hits a triple and the next 2 guys walk. Can the Yankees use Judge for the golden at bat? Can the other team intentionally walk him?
If you gonna fuck around with the rules, you might as well make a golden at bat needing 4 strikes to be out.
Looking forward to Aaron Judge’s upcoming 80-homer season under this stupid rule.
I like the golden at bat idea, but I don’t think the the determination of who is the “best hitter” be left to the teams - that evaluation should be made by a panel of sportswriters.
How about also you get to bring in your own pitcher for the Golden At Bat? Make it like home run derby.
And if you want, you can switch the direction the base-runners run. So if you have someone on first, he’s now on third.
And you can designate one fielder who isn’t allowed to wear a glove for the rest of the game.
It’s time to think outside the box here people!
And if they hit the score board you get to soak the pitcher in Minute Maid Orange Juice.
We should make the outfield like TopGolf, with holes that get progressively smaller and result in more and more runs if you land a ball in them.
If a fielder falls into a hole, he has to solve a sudoku to get out of the hole.
And if a pitcher intentionally hits a batter, the batter shouldn’t be rewarded by going on first base. The pitcher tried to hit him and succeeded. The batter should be out.
Thats how it works in cricket sometimes
They should add a secret immunity out idol - you can play it secretly, and if the batter’s out, he gets another chance. If he gets a hit, you burned it. But then as a super bonus, if it’s an intentional walk, it turns into a HR.
So, Blurnsball?
Edit: for reference
Simpsons really did do everything first.
Ooooo, swing and a Blern
Every time a pitcher hits someone they have to move the mound back 3 feet.
