to be honest regular game seasons are often pretty boring due to the sheer length of the season. I wouldn’t mind if they made it ~75 games. So many games teams have clearly decided to punt or rest players that you are paying to see. I can watch most of the away games or listen on the radio. It’s been like this ever since right before the new ownership, iirc. I was pissed at kershaw for sucking in playoffs for years because at the time his massive contract was partially the reason for the tv deals

The rule changes have so far been good, the rule changes that are for sure coming down the pipe all look good, the only thing I want to see is an ease of restriction on legal sticky substances to save pitchers’ arms which are being injured at an eye popping rate.
The only rule I would add is if you intentionally walk someone, the batter gets 2 bases. So if you get a guy on 2nd with one out, you shouldn’t be incentivized to walk someone to set up the double play. It’s now runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.
Sorry, but this is a terrible idea imo. It skews the stats of your star player for one thing. So your best player is likely to get an extra 100 or more ABs in a season, and many of those with people on base? So, all of his stats, like hits, HRs, RBI, would go up by like 20%? Some of the rule changes, like the pitch clock have been good. The runner on 2nd in extra innings is awful imo and it’s always a relief to see real baseball in the post-season without that stupid rule.
From what I remember, the owners were OK getting rid of the ghost runner post Covid, but the Players Union liked the idea so both sides agreed to keep it. Always thought that was interesting since bullpens tend to get burned starting with a guy on 2nd.
I’m good with the ghost runner but I get irrationally irked by the ghost runner getting an R on the stat sheet when then come around to score. I don’t know why - I understand there’s lots of analogous situations to this.
Stats are such a big part of the lure for baseball junkies. Agree that it’s dumb to get a run scored there, but you can’t leave it out either I guess. It bothers me that a pitcher can pitch a ten inning perfect game and lose.
