That’s one asshole. The batteries were thrown at J.D. Drew for refusing to sign with the Phillies after they drafted him second overall, instead waiting a year, re-entering the draft, and signing with the Cardinals when they drafted him. I’m not saying it’s ok to throw batteries at opponents, but the anger is understandable.
Kind of hard to pick a team to root for here. Neither are in a major drought that makes me sympathize with their fan base. I do like seeing a HOFer like Harper own a postseason, but, meh. The Astros are an amazing team, incredibly built, and I think I’d be cool with them winning another WS and cementing their dynasty status, especially while the lol billionaire Dodgers can’t win a real World Series in 30+ years. Plus, I’m an Altuve fan and Yordan is fucking amazing and Kyle Tucker crushes… and fuck Chase Utley…
OK, I’m (mildly) rooting for the Astros, but won’t be sad one way or another. I do hope the WS is as fun as the NLCS this year. I’m jealous of your experience, @anon38180840 (and other PP fans).

Thanks… This one is special for me, because being born in '86, my first vivid sports memory was Joe Carter breaking my heart in 1993, followed by my parents consoling me with “There’s always next year!”
The Phillies traded away their ace they didn’t want to pay, then the strike happened, and next year sucked.
I was working on-air calling a hockey game when the Phillies clinched in 2008, so I didn’t get to fully enjoy it. So if they pull this off, it’s going to be the first Phillies World Series win I see live.
