Major League Baseball (Part 1)

Ohtani appears to be in a fairly long slump. Vlad passed him on the HR leaderboard and Salvador Perez just hit his 43rd and he is now 2 behind Vlad and one behind Ohtani.

Cedric

Reds from 14 over and 1.5 game lead in WC to losing 7 straight series to mostly terrible teams. More like RIP Reds on a Norm HR.

The cards have some whatever team and you look at the standings and it’s how the hell are they in a playoff spot. Feel like that has happened a lot in this sport over the years. 3 against SD, 7 vs brewers, 7 vs cubs left.

The reds have 7 more against the pirates and 4 against the nats but at this rate maybe that’s a bad thing.

Kimbrel regressing to his 19/20 numbers with the white sox, nelson muntz haha

he homered on the 10th, vlad just went on a tear

MVP race actually a race now, with ohtani imploding in his last start and vlad mashing everything.

Vlad is 1st in HR/AVG/R/H/OBP/SLG/OPS/OPS+/total bases, 6 RBI out of the triple crown, which this is a silly question he has those stats and it’s not a lock.

Maybe Ohtani is not clutch.

BREF has Semien 0.5 WAR ahead of Vlad. FWAR has him 0.3 WAR behind. So back to my point where if you have to make any kind of case at all for him being the best player on his own team then lulz @ choosing either of them over the guy who was clearly better. Of course, the voters who would go for Vlad are only looking at lol_counting_stats anyway which is why all of the voting needs to be made public.

I think WAR adjusts for player position way too much and is somewhat misleading when comparing players who play different positions.

Also I think the you can’t be MVP because another player on the same team is also really good is a bad argument.

Having said that I think Ohtani is still the MVP barring a massive collapse.

This is where the old timey (like, 1990s) approach to picking MVP is so convenient. You just pick players that are on playoff teams then sort by RBI. Congratulations Jose Abreu on your back to back MVP awards.

Ohtani split

NUKE THE WHITE SOX.

“Retaliation” for Abreu getting hit. Play the game the right way, risk the most valuable asset in your league for ‘justice’.

Two-way star Shohei Ohtani won’t pitch Friday for the Los Angeles Angels because of a sore right arm that could sideline him as a pitcher for the rest of the season.

Ohtani (9-2, 3.36 ERA) felt soreness while playing catch Wednesday. Maddon said he raised the possibility of the likely AL MVP being shut down on the mound for the rest of the season during a meeting.

The arm discomfort won’t prevent Ohtani from continuing to serve as a designated hitter.

Home Run Derby strikes again.

Its not just me, right?

The NL should be real nervous about the Cardinals streaking right now.

nobody is nervous but it’d be annoying if the cardinals shipped with yet another just whatever team

Excuse me @skydiver8. Can you please call up your contact on the Reds and have them get their heads out of their asses?
