This is the craziest part about baseball and pretty much everyone’s blind spot if you grew up with the game.

He should be banned from the league, as should the manager and the team should be suspended for a season.

You think the entire team should be suspended for an entire season because he hit the batter on the hip?

Are you drunk?

Thats the sort of punishment it would take to finally clamp down on in game vigilante justice which has been a part of sports forever. It’s an ugly and controversial part, but it’s always been there. Punishments are mostly tied to the impact. As long as no one gets seriously injured nothing really happens.

pLaY tHe GaME tHe riGHt wAy crowd is here.

In case you want a serious discussion, the team HAS to be punished for this. The extent of the punishment should vary on repeated offenses. Could start with forfeiting the game, although with a team like the Nationals that’s hardly a punishment. Take draft picks away. Huge fines. And if it happens again absolutely suspend from the league.

This pitcher is meaningless. He should be punished too of course, but it’s not like Sean Nolin was like “you know what I wanna do completely at my own thought finally after I got a chance in the big league following years in Japan? Get tossed out in the first inning for hitting the star player of a playoff team”. He was instructed to do so by his manager, who represent the team.

This is such an obvious blind spot for people, as can be seen by the dumb “hit in the hip” comment. Freeman was hit on purpose by a rock fired at 90 mph at him. The success of the attack is meaningless.

Giants pull off the first visiting sweep at Coors all year.

Considering how bad the Rockies are, thats a pretty incredible stat.

Rockies have won 45 games at home this year, the same as the Giants who are 27 games ahead of them. It kinda shows how silly Coors stats are and how ridic hard it is to pitch there if you’re not used it.

I was there last night, sitting on the visiting dugout section. Pretty cool atmosphere made even better by the 20 extra base hits the Giants hit before the 3rd inning was over.

Throwing rocks doesn’t justify bringing out the heavy artillery to retaliate.

Thats why i’m not advocating for the pitcher to be shot, which would be the actual continuous of your analogy

Just throw more rocks.

That is the stupid position of the play the game the right way people, yes

If you feel like reading some amazing derp, check out this thread. It’s a poll asking who was better: Griffey Jr. or Jeets:

And of course some people are like RANGS.

Griffey was better but they were both great and the difference isn’t massive. The reasons provided by those posts are very stupid. But Jr had a higher peak, Jeter was good for longer past age 30.

Morning after sex basket alone puts Jeter over Griffey.

Yeah I had heard that Griffey’s post-sex basket was filled with mid-range brands.
