I enjoyed seeing Gerrit Cole get crushed in the first inning in Boston. The sticky stuff had the effect of being a performance enhancing drug for some of these pitchers.

There is some speculation that the glove might have been modified (raised eyelets) to scuff the ball and get a better grip. So maybe he thought he could get away with something other than the sticky stuff.
