…you should call it the “Eisler Group”!
Apparently Argentina is about to elect the new Trump/Bolsonaro
Jesus fucking Christ.
Fucking evil.
Israel’s foreign minister had a secret historic meetinng with Libya’s foreign minister. A very sensitive issue as obviously Libya and Israel don’t currently have diplomatic relationship.
Since its such a delicate affair, the Israeli minister wisely decided to gloat and boost about his great diplomatic achievement. The libyan minister was fired and had to flee the country to Turkey where shes currently hiding.
Just the best people here.
It sounds so dumb that I can’t help but wonder if there was an Israeli plan to cause as much chaos in Libya as possible for…reasons.
Nope, this government is that dumb
(I mean obv its possible but my money is on dumb)
had to look up the argentina guy
somewhat, he’s anti left, but dgaf about lgbtq and isn’t a nationalist. Not near bolsonaro bad.
though that said… some of his supporters wore pins and T‑shirts with the slogan “Libertad, Guns, Bolsonaro, Trump” Can you all do anything without stealing other people’s shit for no reason other than you felt like it?
okay the guy really hates socialists
Harrr! Germany is now run by a pirate!
How do the jog in Germany? On the autobahn?
I don’t understand
He is a Ukrainian who fought the Soviets at the same time as the Soviets were fighting Hitler. If we can give the Finns a pass, I’m fine with this guy.
No, I don’t understand anything about who the guy is, why he’s in parliament or anything. I understand why the alt right are being idiots as that’s what they do…but I googled for context and found nothing
zelensky was there so I guess that’s why
Gotta give all the Ukrainian Nazis a pass. Not just the neos!
Check that.
Have to give them a hand
Australia votes today in a referendum on a constitutional change, the idea of which is to establish a “Voice to Parliament” for indigenous people. The vote requires not just a majority of voters nationwide, but also a majority of voters in a majority of states. Polling indicates the vote will fail to clear even the first requirement.
I voted Yes, but I kind of think the vote deserves to fail. The constitutional language simply establishes a body called the “Voice to Parliament” and specifies that it can make representations to Parliament, but that Parliament doesn’t have to take any notice of this, and also that Parliament has full legislative control over what it is and how it functions. The details on what this body will look like, how people are appointed and everything else was kicked down the road, to be figured out after the vote.
You may notice that this doesn’t seem like it requires a constitutional change. Parliament could simply establish such a body legislatively. The Yes campaign answer to this is that the point of putting it in the constitution is to make it hard to get rid of. So the argument here is “we’re not going to tell you how this thing will be constituted, or how it will work, or what it will do exactly, but it’s important that you make it impossible to get rid of before we decide these things”. This is not much of a sales pitch.
The lack of details meant that the Yes campaign had to engage in very vibes-based campaigning, like one billboard near me was like “Young indigenous people have half the chance of finding a job as non-indigenous, Vote Yes”. They’re unable to even attempt to connect a Yes vote with a solution to this problem, because what is being voted for exactly is not clear. Meanwhile one of the main slogans of the No campaign was “if you don’t know, vote No”. Simple and effective.
I voted Yes on a “roll the dice, hope something good comes of it” rationale, as really the worst thing the Voice could be is a minor waste of money. I am far from convinced it would actually do any good, though, and I don’t think a vote should ever have been called on such a vague proposal. If the vote fails as expected, I won’t be surprised.
Polls closed an hour ago and we already know the vote has failed. Analysts project No victory in NSW, TAS and SA. Nationally the vote is around 56/44 No right now but we have the two most redneck states not counted at all basically.
