yeah it’s just some dude trying to ragebait by saying confusing shit. the money in the tweet is already passed besides this budget bill.
What does besides mean
So if I am reading Chuck Schumer right, the starting point of negotiation for the Democrats is no cut to ICE funding, and no stopping the new $30 billion that requires passage of the currently negotiated bill they’re focusing on.
But that’s how I read the tweet that @Krayz said is just rage bait
I am legit asking for clarification
Congress has to pass the budget every year through appropriations. The OBBBA bill already committed that $30B amount for the next few years, but it has to get appropriated along with the rest of the budget every year as I understand it, otherwise there is a shutdown which effects everything. Its not like this is $30B in new money we’ve never heard of before, it’s the default federal government budget through a continuing resolution now, not a budget increase. It’s also ludicrous to say that Schumer and Jeffries are suggesting to add to ICE’s budget. They are cowardly shitbags, not fascists. I think the $11B is just what could possibly be cut in a best case scenario if somehow Democrats had any power here.
Worth noting that every Dem voted against this, in both the house and senate.
Even Fetterman, I guess.
I know that. But your wording was confusing because you were acting like it’s already finalized and irreversible. It is not already finalized and irreversible, as you now explain.
Why is it worth noting? They voted No when it wasn’t finalized, and now they are voting Yes when it is being finalized. Their starting position in the current negotiation is that they are agreeing to this money.
If I agree to this for the sake of argument, it is still a distinction without a difference.
Where are you seeing this?
It’s what Schumer and Jeffries are saying publicly
Yesterday I posted the latest from them, which doesn’t support what you’re saying. Can you post where you are seeing them say this publicly?
It doesn’t mention Jeffries and Schumer specifically, but this all I can find today:

“I think there is real concern, as I said, about how ICE is operating & there doesn’t seems to be an appreciation for how upset Americans are about that,” Shaheen said of Republicans
Dems deserve credit for separating DHS from the rest of the budget so the Rs can’t hold a full shutdown over them.
Schumer dials up oversight pressure on Trump’s Venezuela oil fund
![]()
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and California Democrat Adam Schiff are introducing a bill Wednesday that would direct the Government Accountability Office to investigate the Trump administration’s handling of the proceeds from the sale of millions of barrels of Venezuelan oil.

House Democrats, too, have upped the pressure in recent weeks

They are Dems which definitionally means they will cave before getting anything real.
It’s odd people on a progressive forum are arguing poor marginalized people breaking the law deserve to die.
What if the trespasser in question is the President of the United States?
Late to the party here, but that’s one side of the equation (being afraid intruders have guns). My home was broken into in the middle of the night when I was single ~15 years ago. From the ruckus I’m guessing it was someone drunk or high. Basically I came out of my downstairs bedroom, scared to wakefulness but still sort of out of it, and saw someone stumbling down the stairs.
I shut and locked the door to my bedroom and told the guy to GTFO and that I was calling the cops (which I did). He ran away shortly thereafter. If I had had a gun at the time, I would 100% would have killed him. I’m happy I’m not a killer now. Super results-oriented of course, I might also have been dead if I was too slow.
Aside: in my state of shock I called 911 and not 112 (the correct number here), but luckily 911 forwarded to 112.
