Remember the McCarthy fiasco, the House has no speaker for a new session and can’t conduct business until one is elected. Johnson could declare himself god-emperor at that point and it would mean as much as if I did it.

Rule of law is not a law of physics. The only thing that actually matters is how many people go along with what a ruler says. And obviously it doesn’t even have to be 51% going along with it, to be ruinous.
