The Democratic plan is a low level misdemeanor with charges dropped if the person agrees to treatment. The GOP proposal is a more serious misdemeanor.

The Oregon Bill re criminalizing drug use has passed the Legislature.
So the voters in Oregon relaxed the idiotic war on drugs in 2020 and the legislature is now undoing that. Some democracy.
Police, Prosecutor and Prison Guard lobby got its way.

Cocaine became illegal largely because it was associated with black people - and I’m not talking about crack in the 1980s.
