I know Columbus Day is already over for many of us, but I wanted to drop a friendly reminder that he was considered a brutal tyrant in his own time. That isn’t some modern notion retroactive applied after many centuries. His contemporaries in 1500 found his behavior so barbaric and inept they had him arrested, exiled from Hispaniola, and sent back to Spain in chains on his own ship

This is coming to be more widely understood. It was recently the subject of the lead article in the Harvard Law Review.
I had a kid in my life for 10 years so naturally her mom and me decided to check the sex offender registry in our area. Distressingly there were tons of them - and all of them were stuff like “lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor”. No details.
There was no way to sift through the 19-year-old who had consensual sex with a 16-year-old or the touchy uncle vs. the guy who tried to grab a kid off the street and had several rolls of duct tape in his trunk. Worse than useless.
Exactly and the duct tape guy is super rare. It gets all the headlines but basically never happens.
Don’t judge, but I haven’t gotten a flu shot in over a decade. Obviously seems like to time to break the habit. Is CVS / Walgreens a fine place to go? Trying to find one that doesn’t do COVID testing.
