I just saw the word “liter” spelled out and it looked extremely wrong to me. To the point where I had to check its spelling, I thought I was having a stroke. For two solid minutes I was canadian and thought it was spelled “litre.” I have no idea why.

Holland is such a wonderful piece of land, me and a friend travelled across it on a train from Hamburg to Rotterdam then onto Amsterdam the 1st time I was there, its amazingly flat and noticeable when coming from Scotland because this place is known for its hills and such its freaky.

No wonder so many young UKer’s get lost there…

Say again?

Right beside the Central train station at the canal?

Brilliant… A lot of people do that, we booked into a hotel just down from the grasshopper shop just down from Central station at the canal end because our friends Dad wanted the experience, lol.

We went over to watch CelticFC V Ajax and had a ball, sitting at the window of the hotel in the early hours was great watching the madness.

The Dam is 1 of the few city’s in Europe that you do need to be careful when around those parts, alough its nothing like the US.

Schiphol Airport for us is just under an hour so it was an easy trip… Some better options the next time :joy:

I like staying around the casino area, as it has some nice places to eat etc and is close enough to most of the tourist attractions. Alough I’ve stayed all over, it’s no different really. It’s just a chill place overall.

That’s not true among the general population, maybe among twitter edgelords

14 hours later and the power is still off. I have to get up at an ungodly hour to make my dental appointment tomorrow. I had to break out winter clothing today. Small problems in the scheme of things, so I will now have a beer. A warm beer.

I’m adding some chipmunks music to my amazon playlist for those times when you get to a stoplight and some asshole next to you is blasting shitty music and you need to drown them out.

You might find this book to be of interest.

No idea why you would think The Dam is not safe. It might be true on match day as a supporter of the opposing team but the centre of Amsterdam is all really safe except for pickpockets. Only place I would stay away from is Bijlmer and there is nothing to do there anyway. And that area is still nothing compared to the bad Paris neighbourhoods and definitely nowhere near US bad ones.

At night around Central is always the place to be careful, it’s where some of the heroin dealers sat around when we were over. It was meant as a bit tounge and cheek and I meant to say that about the pickpockets are about your worst thing to worry about.

I didn’t mean to imply that the Dam is not a safe city (Unless you’re there with football fans Ofcourse)
