I don’t know very much about British politics. How are they planning on resolving the border issue in Northern Ireland? Do they have a real plan right now or is their plan just to blame it on Labour down the road?
The deal is that there will be a border in the Irish sea, but the government has the cunning plan to just refuse to call it what it is. They’re dumb enough to think it might work, but won’t really care much when it doesn’t (beyond any inconvenience it causes them directly).
Well at 1st is was an Irish border down the sea, but that floated away quickly until they came up with a bridge idea, then as we always new it would be back to the full land border with the Republic of Ireland…
But who knows really…
I admit I’ve been tuning out of UK politics post the election, but I thought the agreement was to keep NI in full alignment regardless of what the rest of the UK decides post the transition period?
The last we heard was BJ saying its a sea border and since he’s done no interviews at all really we will need to take his word that that’s what it is…
NI alignment is part of the Withdrawal Agreement signed with the EU and passed in to UK law. They say there will be checks and are currently clearly briefing that a full border with the EU will be maintained. Any uncertainty is just part of their “pretend black is white” plan surrounding the issue, in my opinion. The only way there will not be a border in the Irish sea is if the WA is ripped up or a deal for full, UK wide alignment is signed. The government clearly has no intention of pursuing either of those options.
(I mean, I think, unless something has changed that I’ve missed, which is certainly possible.)

I hope so, my worry is with the pro European Torys causing the most disruption in anything going forward inside there own party.

The Tories have sussed that enough people don’t care they blatantly lie about everything because they’ve been bludgeoned into submission by a decade of austerity and record levels of personal debt, and have pretty much given up.

I pretty much agree with this…
I’m not saying it won’t get worse, it’s just that the Torys as you say will only do what’s right for the ruling class and never to us.
I’m more in hope that riots won’t start I suppose. I expect some unrest and hope it’s not bad enough for more.
