PM would find it âalmost impossibleâ to get his plan through European parliament, says leading MEP
Guy Verhofstadt, the European parliamentâs lead Brexit spokesman, has said that it would be âalmost impossibleâ for MEPs to agree the Boris Johnson plan as it stands, Channel 4 News reports.
The EU will not be able to agree to a withdrawal agreement unless the European parliament votes in favour.

Boris Johnson suggests he is willing to accept further changes to his Brexit plan.
Here are more lines from the Commons exchanges.
The most significant were probably Boris Johnsonâs responses to Philip Davies and Alistair Burt - implying that this is not the PMâs âfinal offerâ and that further changes could be made.

Tory Brexiteer Philip Davies asks if this is the PMâs final offer. Boris Johnson swerves the question and just says we will leave on Oct 31 deal or no deal. That suggests to me this isnât the final offer and he is willing to compromise further.

The implication being that the Tories are trying to persuade Hungary to veto an extension, thus forcing no deal?
Donât think the meeting was secret, thereâs articles about it in the Hungarian press and the foreign minister seems to have been on newsnight last night.
They deny they were asked to veto, and at in that interview he stresses EU unity on the issue, the need for an agreement and the chances of any different agreement being minimal.
I donât think thereâs any doubt Hungary would like the EU to leave them alone more, but Iâve never really understood why breaking from the pack on Brexit would benefit them. Yes theyâre often at odds with other members, but that doesnât mean theyâll act like a sullen teenager and just do stuff to piss off their parents. What do I know, though.
Wonât matter if Hungary or whoever plays the veto card because theyâve been bribed/blackmailed.
Can you elaborate?
